| project crawl http://photobucket.com/albums/d146/troynitrous/well i'm a rookie at this crawling but heres my first attempt. Twin Force side plates, E-maxx trans, X Factor axles, HPI rims and tires. It still needs electronics installed. I actually may own a second crawler soon as I traded a Savage to someone from this website but i'm still waiting for it to get here its a clod based unit. I'vs been waiting two weeks for this guy to quit making excuses if I don't see it soon i'm out a truck but it will be posted in feedback for sure! enjoy the photos critique it if you see something blatantly wrong ? thanks Troy oh yeah hopefully these pics show up its my first time at that too!!!!! heres a couple more photos my savage body is only on there for mock up. I am planning on lowering it a very small amount as right now ground clearance at the tranny is 6.5" |

ditch the servo/bumper things, they kill your approach and depature angles. go for an above the the axle mount, or behind the axle, but im not shure you can do that because im not fimilar with those axles. |

yeah I figured those would be a problem. I haven't really come up with a satisfactory idea yet so the front will temporarily be used maybe.

wheelbase is 17.5 I was thinking of lowering it a very small amount but have decided not to. ground clearance at the center loaded with batteries and all is 5.5". I hope to have it running very soon to try it out. I need driveshafts and an ESC, oh and a body, but it can run without that if needed. Unfortunately due to weather I will be climbing snow piles and ice chunks, the cool part is a have a very nice frozen pile I have been "building" over the last couple snowfalls!!

Ooh that's really a cool FJ40! It doesn't look like this is your first attempt at it, looks very pro indeed! Now, for the steering place the servo oin top of one of the axletubes, facing rearward, be creative and make some sort of nice hidden steering linkages that cannot hung up the front. Ditch the bumper and make a small front plate just to protect the diff case. What are you doing for the driveshafts? Revo ones are for 6mm slotted shafts, X-Factor input is 8mm. Are you going to turn the shaft down or to enlarge the revo yokes and drill the shaft for the long Traxxas pin? |

E-maxx tranny for the Revo's I have a pair of yokes that have been drilled out to fit the X pinions. They came with some parts I bought. Yes I will be drilling the pinion, and what fun it has proven to be!! thank you for the tips on the servo mount. I plan to move it but I haven't came up with any ideas I like yet. Also I may get a different servo that one is 105oz. and I don't think it will be enough if the tires are loaded with the weight of the truck so I will fab something when I get the servo I really need. I'm really anxious to get it running and i've also decided since i have an extra pair of axles and a twin force tranny w/GD600 what better time than now to attempt a tuber!! I have been doing a lot of practice brazing and I think i'm ready. Once again all the info posted by those with much experience helped me learn to braze easily. I bought all the WRONG stuff than got researching on this site when it didn't work, than bought everything I was told and guess what?? I can braze!!!!! amazing what a little reading could have saved me in headache and time spent thinking "I know how to do this" HA !! thanks for all your info to all those who have posted advise anywhere on this site!! |
