| xfactor axle slop
over time my axles have developed about 1/4 turn of slop at the wheels, meaning one wheel will now turn about 1/4 way around before the other (locked diff) wheel will move. i know this isnt good. i was just wonderin if any of you guys who have more experience with them can offer any advice other than maybe tightening the set screws when i go to fix them. |

On my X, I've found that the stock stub axles will develop slop in the slots that the dogbone fits into. Check to see if this is the case. If the slop is coming from this part of the setup, replacement stubs should costs around $20 for all 4, or less. You may want to try the Savage stubs from XTM, or even try running aftermarket ones for the HPI Savage. I believe Diggler is running these. I have the XTM conversions in mine, and no problems.

heh, its not the stubs (savage) or the ring and pinion, which i've already shimmed. its the piece that connects the axle shafts to the diff, those little grub screws that keep it all tight i think are workin thier way loose. i might look into having somebody just weld the little bastages. |

HoopT, Couple of solutions for you here: 1. JB Weld the shafts into the collars and you can do away with the grub screws completely. Problem is....If you break an axle shaft, you have to replace both shafts, diff, etc. I did this and have NEVER broken an axle shaft....yet! 2. Rather than use the grub screws, drill through the shafts and use a cross shaft which will likely never come loose. |

They prolly won't just lunch out. But they will spin freely inside the couplers, giving no power to the wheels. When I first got my X, I thought I had broken an axle and I just ran it like that for a month. Never hurt nothin!
