Winch Spool?

I give up, I searched and found how to turn a servo to a winch. What are people using for the spool??? The only thing I can think of is a bobbin from a sewing machine. What else is used and how to convert it to fit on the servo. Thanks

I used the servo saver from a TLT kit.Just trimmed it so it was round and leaving off the metal spring thingy,just glued the halves together.If you need more room on the spool just glue on a couple pieces of plastic that are the diameter you want.

Try a sewing machine bobbin (sp?) screw it to a round servo horn/wheel...

Check out Holmes hobbies, John sells them pre-made at a great price,,,,,

i just made one, i used the white round horns( dontknow what else to call em) that came with me servos. i put one on normal way,... then added a few washers to give more space between sides, then added another disk on top... screw through both, into servo, i fastened my line to the one that is on the servo output gear

$25 for a standard servo with a spool on it is a rip off. There are plenty how to's (one on the homepage of this site) on how to make a winch. Just remove the internal servo stops and fab up a spool. Save you $15ish. Not bad for 1/2 hour time.

I ended up making my on winch servo and used a bobbin from a sewing machine. If I could only get that damn winch to quit walking all the time:twisted:

Yeah this is really easy to do. I wouldnt pay $25. A box of 12 bobbins was $2 and everybody who has servos should have at least a few of the white round horns somewhere. Just did this one yesterday. Took me about 15 minutes....

Actually it is. If you check the sticky Bender and I have at the top of "General Crawlers" there's lots of good info.
