It's too bad Price is dead...all our US coverage of it died when the UFC bought it.

I do not like Pride's ring, the cage is such a better fighting atmosphere for fans and fighters. Pride also has some rather "safe" rules, but I do love the yellow cards because of non-activity.

My problem with any MMA right now is the heavyweights. The UFC champ is a 205 fighter who can fight. Most current UFC heavyweights are terrible at best, Sylvia is a man-hugger...not a fun fight to watch.

I do hope Fedor destroys Sylvia, but that shouldn't be hard at all.

Totally agree with most of this !!!!!!
even the part about the Pride ring ...it took me a while to get used to it :lol:
Its was kinda hard after all the UFC I watched in the old days.
However these days I do find the UFC cage to be a bit small and dark also limiting on size also as much as I like the atmosphere.

I don't really agree that the rules make it safe because to be totally honest I have seen bouts just as explosive and bloody as cage fights in that ring....

Lately I have missed out on lots of brutal UFC stuff (being away from Australia)I used to have a huge collection,I have been digging around for it on You Tube but cant find something that I can really sink my teeth into like a good old Pulver fight or a Tank Abbot skull crushing...

please point me to something specific ?????Like an actual name of a good recent cage fight."thumbsup"

Kimbo will never be in the UFC, he proved that on the show. He was dead tired after the first round...maybe in the days of UFC's lame-heavyweights like Arlovsky and Sylvia he would have a chance, but not with a JuiJitsu guys like Couture or Nogueira.

That said EliteXC has always done what they are doing. Basically paying people to take a fall to make 1 still sub-par fighter look good. It's free so I don't care, but it won't help the MMA, only hurt it with such terrible fight card as was promoted. Even the female fighting was barely able to make it watchable.

How is Arlovski a lame heavyweight? Since when has Couture become a jujitsu guy???

For a washed up guy like Liddell he sure did a hell of a job against Wanderlei Silva.

Pride rules "safe"??? How is allowing soccer kicks to the face of an opponent while they are on the ground considered safe?

Arlovski was a hope to turn the tide of UFC's man-hugging Heavy-weights. He just has trouble fighting Sylvia which places him low on the list of championship shots.

How'd Liddell do against Keith Jardine? This places him low on the title shot list, Jardine isn't a top contender.
How about against Rampage?

Couture isn't only a Juijitsu fighter. I never said that. I said he knows JuiJitsui, and is a MMA fighter. Sylvia is not, he is a trained Man-hugger. Throw his long punches, then go into a lame actionless clinch to "win" the round.

No elbow strikes to the head and face. This is allowed in the UFC and most other "ground and pound" friendly fighting organizations. They only call out Elbow POINT strikes as illegal.

No kicks or knees to the head or the face of an opponent who falls face down. This is a Pride rule, basically taking your claim and disputing it. If an opponent is face up the chance of "soccer" kicking them is minimal, only when they are facing down or knocked out.

I dont think Chuck took the Jardine fight seriously. I'd be willing to bet he would whoop his ass in a rematch. Doubt it with Rampage though.

I agree, but thats what everyone said about Rich "used to be Ace, now its Broken nose and broken Ego" Franklin against Anderson Silva. Franklin had a second chance to prepare correctly and still lost terribly.

Too many UFC know-it-alls think the UFC is the only place to fight. Silva and Nogueirra are gonna do some damage to the old "UFC" guys. Oh and Fedor should be retiring Sylvia July 19th.

I hate to tell you, but Fedor is a punk beotch. He bairly edged out a desicion agains Cro-Cop and we all saw what happened to him, he never got a title shot and is 1-2 in the UFC. Why else do you think Randy Couture left the UFC, one bug reason is Fedor not wanting to fight him, and I don't blame him. Couture is a true heavy weight, he has proved it time and time again.

Well thats funny. Couture wants to fight Fedor, but Fedor won't yet Fedor will fight on Couture's Affliction Pay-Per-View Card?

I think you are missing the true underlying Dana White issue that Couture has been dealing with.
 
It just looked like a guy with an alien growing out of the side of his head and a black dude with the largest goatee I have ever seen were humping on the ground for most of their fight. I thought it was a bad example of what MMA is.

Fedor is no punk. From what I have heard he is fighting Randy. Late this year I think.
 
I think the reason they stopped the fight between kimbo and thompson, cause thompsons equilibrium was in danger. I was working on an oil rig steaming lines and stuff and the toolpush threw a mudball at a pipeliner.
It hit him in the ear and now the guy is f*cked.
He sued the oil company for quite a bit. Your equilibrium has something to do with your balance (I think) and if you cant balance your pretty much f*cked. As for pride, I think it was much more entertaining cause the fighters were ALOT better. In UFC the crowd is rude and disrespectful. I would like too see half those people in the ring, cause I bet they wouldn't last one min. If you watch pride the crowd is pretty silent, Plus seeing Quinton Jackson knock someone out with stomps to the head makes my day anytime."thumbsup"
 
UFC isn't rude, remember the people keeping the sport making money allowing people to be full time fighters is US the audience. If I'm paying $60 per month to watch UFC...you better make it exciting for me. Tim Sylvia makes fights terribly boring, because he lacks action and motivation in the ring. I don't want to pay to watch an ogre barely fight when I can see action. Imagine what the people at the event pay, over $100 and often over $500 for a ticket. They expect a good show.

Pride is quiet for one reason, the audience isn't mic'ed up heavily. I've seen many a yellow card (penalty for halting action) fly in Pride.

What I mean is this, Fedor is great......in pride, this is the ufc, it is a step up in competition. How can he be "ranked" #1 in the world when he has fought no good heavy weight ufc fighters. I think that Gonzaga would beat fedor no problem. I think Mir would beat fedor. He is good, but randy couture is great and we will all see that if they ever fight.
