In Search Of ..... the "ultimate" pit (or home workbench) mat

The rigs sit on the other side. It’s a cozy little area. Pretty much every shelf, storage piece, even the lighting is diy/scrounged parts. Those are bare 100 watt LED bulbs from old lamps with license plates in front of them for ‘shades’.

Nice surgery room!:)

Nice and organized and looks like a great place to spend some time working on tiny trucks!"thumbsup"

I need to make me one of them paint spray can holders! I've got too many cans scattered throughout my room and I've been looking for a way to organize them better.

+1 for a yoga mat. I picked up this blue yoga mat from Walmart for $15-$20 and put on my table. Works great for what I need. Used double sided tape to hold it on. Than I use cow rc parts trays for my builds.

That's is the other thing I like about using a yoga mat. While your typical RC mat is great for "roll & go", the 'uncut' length provides you with a longer continuous home workspace.

the timing on this thread is almost perfect.
i started building a drift car kit. first real "kit" i have put together in over 10 years (last one was a TT01R in japan circa 2007).

my bench surface is VERY similar to BMOW with a fiskars hobby surface. i did my kit build on youtube (still in progress) and when i dumped the hardware on the bench surface, i could hear the screams in the comments already lol
havent lost anything so far, but just like laying down a bike, "its not a matter of 'if', but 'WHEN'."

first thing i thought of getting was those big COWRC mats. but the yoga mat thing is perfect! i have one of my wife's old mats she was going to throw out and i was like GIMME! didnt even know what for yet but im a pack-rat so i knew i could use it for something. NOW i know!

Thanks!!!

I use a dlux towel. It's black just like the surface of my bench so all the stainless hardware shows up easily.
But what about the black plastic pieces, out the black oxide screws? Lol

I too use a green self healing hobbie mat and occasionally stuff gets to the floor. I really need to buy a parts tray...
