Don't let them take the 2nd ammendment!!

I always vote pro 2nd Amendment. Most other issues matter little to me, and the issues that matter to me, I have no control over, big business buys the politicians.

I had a discussion with someone the other day and I said that I was unsure which president to vote for since I have to choose between two candidates who split my beliefs on gun control and pro-choice.

He told me I should be more worried about the economy and health care and vote based on that.

Yeah right, I should care more about money and economics than my personal freedoms as an American citizen.
Good post Robb. "thumbsup"

I feel your pain man. Really, I don't like either of them. I'm pro choice and I like some of obama's energy policy, but I prefer Mccain's stance on gun control. It'll probably come down to how much Palin scares me and how likely McCain is to die in office (especially if he gets a second term) It's just a stupid popularity contest really, any of them will just muck the place up more. I have virtually no faith in the american political system.

Don't worry about the pro life/choice issue, it's already decided, and it's not going to change.

As far as Obama's energy policies, it's all talk. Money decides policy in this country, and oil is where the money is, so the oil companies decide our energy policies.

very opinionated on this one, if guns are outlawed, try to take em, see what happens. prolly got 1500 rounds of various gauge/calibers, and i'm running low at that, that will hold me out for a while. if one stops and thinks about it, crimes are committed against individuals that criminals see as vulnerable. give every single person a gun, train them to use it, levels the playing field. would u even consider breaking into someones house knowing that every single individual in that household has at least one gun and knows how to use it? i seriously doubt it. thats my moms theory and shes not overly enthusiastic about guns, but respects the rights and knows they are beneficial. i also agree whole heartedly that punishment is not severe enough in this country. why do criminals have rights? in my eyes, if you break the law, u waiver your rights as a citizen. as it is now, u break the law, you get a roof over your head, a gym membership, and 3 meals a day. wtf?

People kill people, guns help, therefore guns must be restricted, but taken away is just outrageous....

Your right, taking our gun right away is outrageous! And we don't need more laws to restrict guns! We need less restriction and more responsible gun owners!

I've have this discussion before.

What amazes me is the number of children who think that guns need to be outlawed!

They are absolutely being brainwashed by the liberal media, the anti gun lobby and all the BS they are being force fed in school. You should hear some of the crap my son tells me.

I have to then explain to him that what he "learned" is just someones opinion and that as such it's not necessarily correct. I then explain our believes and give him examples as to why we believe them.

If we don't instill in our children the belief that gun ownership is a right, then we and they are doomed to lose that right!

Join the NRA, research the candidates positions and voting record on gun issues and then vote! If we don't express our outrage at this attack on our basic freedoms, we will lose them!

People commit suicide, so we should restrict razor blades, bath tubs, rope and trees. Come on.

Here are the gun restrictions I'm OK with.

You can't kill people with guns (excluding self defense) Oh wait, murder is already illegal!
You can't use a gun to rob, rape, assault, kidnap or damage property. Oh wait, all those things are already illegal!
You can't shoot a gun while drunk or under the influence of any other mind altering drugs. Gotta be careful how those laws are worded though, I don't want to go to jail for having a gun locked up in the safe while I'm drunk at home.
You can't own a gun if you've been convicted of a felony.

Why the hell do we need more laws about this? It's all covered already! Every law the politicians pass has some stupid extra stuffed in it somewhere that fawks us over.

All I want in washington is enough divisive politics that nothing but the annual budget gets passed. Everything else is bad. I consistently vote no on every ballot initiative, bond issue and ammendment, and I have no plans to change.

All quotes pulled off the net, so take them for what they are worth. I will say that if you do any research on the information you will find that they are true. Gun control is not for protection of the population, it is really population control. If you can not fight back, you are a slave. Once they take the guns, what next?? freedom of speech?? right As a society we need to make people pay for the crimes they commit, not punish the society for the crimes one commits.

A quote from Adolf Hitler, 1935

"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future."

CONSIDER THIS...

In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million "educated" people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

That places total victims who lost their lives because of gun control at approximately 56 million in the last century. Since we should learn from the mistakes of history, the next time someone talks in favor of gun control, find out which group of citizens they wish to have exterminated.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed, a program costing the government more than $500 million dollars. The results Australia-wide; Homicides are up 3.2%, Assaults are up 8 %, and Armed robberies are up 44%.

In Australias state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are up 300%! Over the previous 25 years, figures show a steady decrease in armed robberies and Australian politicians are on the spot and at a loss to explain how no improvement in "safety" has been observed after such monumental effort and expense was successfully expended in "ridding society of guns."

It's time to state it plainly; Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives, protect children and property and, yes, gun-control laws only affect the law-abiding citizens.

Guys, I think you misunderstood me, I LOVE guns I love shooting them, I love looking at them etc. In fact if I were 18 I would buy one. I wasn't saying more restrictions need to be instated, like chrisjlittle said, restrictions are already in place...

Thank you Rogue! That was a lot of the stuff I was working on posting when I hit something on the keyboard of my new Apple and lost the whole post!:x
