high voltage mini servo for dig?

is there a mini servo available that fits the LCC which can handle 7.4v ?
I'd like to be able to run a 7950 for steering and the dig servo both straight off the battery without adding an external bec.
 
He don't have a EXT. BEC. Wanting to power the Servo straight of the battery. He really should get an external though. Lack of power sucks:evil:

You really do need a BEC though. I know its just more wiring, but they are well worth it.
 
why not use a diode to drop the voltage by 1.2V? Helicopter guys do it all the time for the tail servo. 6.2V shouldn't be too rough on a 6V capable servo.

There's no lack of power going straight from the battery, 50 to 100 amps was stronger than 10 last time I checked the math.

I'm interested in a 7.4 mini or mirco for my HRD 3.1 also, my rx can handle it and I would upgrade my steering from the 8711 to the HV. Would clean up the wiring and offer unbeatable power to the servo's."thumbsup"
 
in this situation id just run the dig servo off the esc through the receiver. i just cant see a reason not to, a dig servo isnt going to pull enough current to shut the esc down, and if it does something is wrong.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll go with the hitec 5245 for the dig powered off the internal bec on the goat. Then connect the steering servos red wire via a modified y-harness directly to the battery for full voltage.

Correct! I guess should have finished typing what I was thinking. It was late.
I was thinking of suggesting he run a 3s set-up and running an external bec. Because running straight of a battery you are at the mercy of the voltage drop when the batt is discharging. It is not a constant 7.4 volts where a bec is regulated if he were on 3s with the bec at 7.4 it would be a constant 7.4

Can you tell me which diode you would use, and how you would wire that? I have the Mamba Max Pro and set the BEC voltage to to 7.2 for the steering servo, but then need to drop it back down for the dig servo.

http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=43934 has what you need to know.Ideally you'll need two pairs of diodes, so when you power off the system the servo doesn't stay on due to its capacitor, but i suppose two in series should work in a pinch.

No problem and thanks for the reply. After more research and reading, I decided to keep it simple and use a 6v steering servo. I found the JR8711 provides 403 oz of torque at 6v, so that should be more than enough.

IMO the futaba S9157 is THE best 6v servo money can buy"thumbsup" It is really quiet, has plenty or torque and is incredibly smooth.
