Swat team murders two dogs

sadly that guy will never get justice for his dogs being shot. because all the swat guys have to say is they felt they were in danger.

it isn't right and i wish that guy who was doing the shooting gets fired and never sees another gun in his life.

It happened in Columbia (southern Missouri)

http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2010/may/06/complete-coverage-february-2010-swat-raid/

Was raided on the suspicion of being a dealer with a large amount on hand. He was busted with a small amount and a pipe.

I've heard of worse raids in the state for meth, this one just happend to have a video and it went viral.

I don't blame the cops. Raiding a house of a suspected drug dealer, come up on a pit (any large dog for that matter) I'll drop it before it has a chance to do anything. As for shooting the Corgi...

So your telling me if you were a cop raided my house, and saw my 75lb golden retriever jump up to you (my dog jumps on people when come over, he likes attention) you would kill it or hurt it?

My dog is bigger then some pit bulls but not most.

I don't agree with that mentality, unless it hurts you, you entered it's domain it has a right as a living breathing animal to protect itself and it's owners/family.

The swat team in the vid disgusts me, anyone ever did that to my dog I would be in jail or shot for killing that person.

I lived in Columbia, MO for 2 years and normally I'm a very strong supporter of law enforcement. As a dog owner, I feel that in this case the use of force was excessive! What did the SWAT Team expect the dog to do? They had just forcibly entered into it's home screaming and yelling! The poor dog only did what came instinctively.

IMO there seems to be a double standard applied. If the officers had a K9 unit w/ them and it would have been injured or killed in the raid, the home owner would be charged.

If they are going to forcibly enter a home like that, they should have some form contingency plan in place for non lethal means of dealing w/ a family pet.

Hopefully the officers involved in the shooting received some kind of punishment and the family was compensated.

WTF' why did those stupid' bastard's have to shoot for

__X2 brotha' them rotten bastard's will just get away with it too' - were in trouble if cop's can just come busting in on us and kill our family member's - scare the hell outta' our kid's and trash the place as they please' - Yup I say were in trouble..?!! fawking bastard's they did'nt have to do that ya' know's - shame i feel for the kid's having to grow up with all this on their mind's for the rest of their life's - Scoot'er.

Say your a cop, busting in a door of a drug house and find a dog going towards you. You going to let it get a hold of you first, then nail it? or stop it before you or someone on your team gets hurt?

Now imagine the backlash on the already bad rep of the Pit bread if the dog was not dropped and it got a hold of the cop. News would have just as big of field day with that, if not more so, because the cop was injured. ONLY reason this got the attention it did was due to the fact the vid made it to youtube.

No I'm heartless, I have many dogs over the years, 5 actually. I like dogs, have no issues with them. I have had 3 dogs that have died due to non-natural causes. Had a full blooded female St. Bernard killed by a crazy neighbor that thought she was Cujo, she did have the same print, he put rat poison in her water bowl. Found her when I go home from school. Had a small mut pup rescue dog get out of the yard nailed by a UPS truck. Also had a Shepard mix farm dog that was injured fighting with a coon, never recovered, went nuts and turned on one of my little cousins cornering him a barn. Me and grandad yelled, he charged, I dropped him then. Yeah it sucked, he was a dam good dog, haven't had one since.

Normally I would disagree with dezfan... as hard as it is, I agree w/him on this one.

If they would have shot my dogs, coming in my house, I would have been shot as well. And possibly someone else.

The only people in trouble generally is the low life douchebag dealers or other form of criminal that uses animals in there home as a deterent to others.

I love my dog, he is a great pet. I feel he is completely safe because I don't give the cops a reason to kick my door down.

That is MY opinion.

I agree, but what would your opinion be if(or when) the authorities made a mistake and kicked in your door and shot your dog on accident?

In answer to your question I would be pissed, but on the other hand I don't equate the life of an animal to being the same as the life of a human. PERIOD. I bought and paid for my dog. Yes, I am attached to him and would be upset.

If I were home and the cops came knocking I would answer the door because I have nothing to hide. All it takes is to yell, hey I'm coming to the door or say let me put my dog away. In my case pick up my dog because he is small. Best case scenario obviously.

When anyone unexpected come to my door the first thing I do is contain my dog. I know not everyone likes a dog trying in jump up to or on them.

I don't see the cops as the bad guys, I don't feel the police are out to get me.

If they kick down my neighbors door for dealing dope, and shoot their dog that really would not bother me. Especially if it got rid of the dealers next door.

(Just an example, I don't think my neighbors have a dog or deal drugs)

And yes I'm ANTI-DOPE, just my beliefs, don't flame me.

You need to see it from both points, these guys don't just instantly get a badge and a gun. They go through pretty intensive training to do what they need to do. Usually they only have milliseconds to make a life or death decision and yes, sometimes they make a mistake. Maybe this was a mistake, but I think people in general are all too quick to jump on the bandwagon, pointing fingers and saying these guys are bad cops. I seriously doubt this guy went out for beers with his buddies and said "hey guys, see how I took out that stupid f'ing mutt".

Yes there are bad cops, and some may be a bit too "gung ho" but you can't judge someone by a stupid video on youtube.

if your that much of a ***** you feel like you need to shoot a dog before actually being attacked than you don't need to be on a swat team. was the guy afraid the dog was gonna threaten his life? no. at most hed come out with a couple cuts or a broken arm. and i doubt that cause pitbulls don't have nearly the bite force as larger dogs such as shepherds and rotts
or maybe thats just how the swat team is. just a bunch of *****'s with too much of a right to shoot at will.

Cop's or no Cop's - shoot my dog & I'd shoot you too'

X2 brotha' and if anyone was to harm Reb' - I'd harm them right back too' - he a wolfhound/bluetick mix and yes he's a big dummy and he is protective - but he would'nt hurt you - he would mean to scare the shit outta' you but - I know in my heart he would'nt hurt ya' badly he play ruff' too and will sink his teeth into me I've play ruff' with him before and his been train' to take you out simple as that - and if you was to surely mean to hurt him - then you hurt me as well Pal' - here a pic' of him ->

<- I rescued him from the shelter' for he had a mean owner who was mean to him' and broke his heart as a pup' - he's a damm' good dog and would lay his life down for you as well' - but he love's to be loved that all he want and give's back x2 as well' - Now,...you tell me - if you'd be scare of this big dummy charging at you and barking up a storm and jumping up at you as you come thru' my front door' - he'd just might be thinking that you have a bis'-kit in you pocket..?!! and you was holding out on him' - LoL' - Scoot'er.

agree... there is no reason to be shooting up dogs. it is their job to protect what is theirs, no matter who enters the property... the **** tard cops should have had better intel and had animal control on sight to tranq the dogs a head of time.. thats what they did when they raided my house. by the time the flash bangs went off my 2 pits where already snoring

I just realized the real leason here; Don't be a drug dealer/user. If the guy wasn't shady, the cops wouldn't be raiding his house and therefore his dog would not have been shot. I don't feel bad for this loser. Yes, I believe drug addicts are losers.
