i wonder how many collisions or deaths caused by cellphone use

lots.. theyve banned it here..


im also kind of cheezed at everyone bashin on people that smoke weed that 1.) have never tried it
and 2.) have no problem grabbin a six pack at the gas station

IMO everything should be legal
people are going to do drugs regardless

sensible words..alcohol is by far the most damaging drug in societal cost..its documented and proven fact..no one should drive intoxicated, thats just common sense..i wonder how many collisions or deaths caused by cellphone use..it sux that the car was hit for sure no one should be behind the wheel when distracted or wasted..no argument

Often other factors lead to that human error
such as a driver becoming distracted by a cell phone,cb radio,adjusting the radio,eating,reading,talking to passenger or being distracted by other action of passengers.

Non of these things caused the accident,it was caused by the humans inability to deal with the situation.

I have been driving with one knee while eating for years.

I drive with one knee and read the map all the time.

If I get an an accident,those inanimate things caused nothing
My inability to be preprared for the situation is what caused it.

Things that alter the mind are different IMO
as they change the person from the brain out.

Talking on the phone does not change my depth perception or reation time.
eating doesnt either.

But drugs do.drugs without a douybt kill,the cell phone is just a tool,like a gun.IMO

ya distracted by cellphone ..as mr slave said we have a cellphone ban here..my phone used to ring whilst driving all the time and i can honestly say it has distracted me a few times fortunatly with no accidents..i have no problem with our cellphone ban ..i do believe it distracts and the call can wait

i think talking on the phone while driving is just as bad as being buzzed and driving. when youre on the phone and driving you arent paying attention to the road you are more involved in talking on your phone. different than just talkin to your passenger..

just think how pissed off you would be when someone rear ends you cause they were talking on their phone.

i think our ban is province wide i believe..not sure how many other provinces have the same law..ontario for sure but its one new law i can totally live with..i no longer feel obligated to answer my phone and its a relief..lol

If someone rearends me,it doesnt matter to me if they was drunk,looking at a girl on the side of the road,or picking thier nose,or just didnt react in time.
They hit me,I'm pissed,I just hope they have insurance.

I disagree,I have talked on cb's long before cell phones was around.I have talked on phones since I had one around 15yrs ago.

I have never had an accident while talking on the phone,or eating,or reading the map.

All of my accidents was related to speed.My reaction time was inadequate for the speed/road conditions.

I can absolutly talk on the phone and pay attention to the road.
I do not text though,I think texting is much worse than reading or anything else. Your eyes have to focus on small print.

When I'm on the phone/cb my eyes are focused on whatever I'm looking at,be it the road or a passing car,My attention is wherever I want it,its some peoples inability to pay attention that gets them on trouble,they can be looking at the road,driving the speed limit and not react fast enough.
Much less multi task while driving. But to say phones are the problem is inaccurate IMO,its self controle,your ability to focus no matter what your doing.

Does it matter in the slightest if it's worse driving drunk = Nope

It's not a black and white thing, there are shades or grey.

Ban cell phone use while operating any motor vehicle because it does impair the driver. People claim the same shit all the time, "I have never gotten into an accident and have been using the phone, texting, drinking etc all the time". Until it happens they wont have any respect for anyone else, but if someone injures my family while on a phone, drinking, stoned, reading etc. I am going to jail as well with assault charges.

Also almost every gold mine around here has banned cell phone use on property because of the related accidents. Did the phone cause the accident? of course not the dipshit using it did. Will it be a long time if ever before they ban cell phone use, of course, all the law makers are on the phone in their cars as well as most of the voters.

The whole state? Right on, they did something right for a change..lol.
I am originally from cali as well so I know how crazy stuff is there. In Michigan a few areas had the blue-tooth only rules which is a good start
I am man enough to say that it impairs me as well and i know it. I use my phone left handed and lose a lot of peripheral vision out of that side. If I injure someone kick my ass I deserved it as well. My wife gets so pissed at me for letting my phone ring when driving.I tell her you answer it...LOL


Shitty part is I have to have one and answer it for work because being a diesel mechanic I get service calls all the time...sucks!!

I have never gotten into an accident while using a hand held device.
If you could find out how many drivers have,and how many drivers havnt
I bet you will find more people have used thier phones without a problem
