xr10 parts and custom made parts build

Nice build and great info. I like how you have gone outside the box to see if the unusual things work for you. They may not for you but may for someone else and you just helped them with that. We all want are rigs to be at 100%, but alot of us like being different as well. Thats the great part of this sport, there is no perfect standard setup.

Keep thinking out of the box.
Not everything will work as imagined, but if not for trying, and just going with the flow, nothing would get better. Its called R&D.
My servo is mounted so the horn is wheelside, not by the upper links.
OMG, im doing something most ppl aren't i must be a moron right!

NOT, dont let them suck you in. as long as you like it who cares what they say.

no such thing as a standard setup, maybe standard baseline. the thing i like about this hobby, is that you can get 5 guys with the same rig and sooner or later they will all be totally different.

here are whats left after cutting, the piece on the right is discarded. the 3 on the left will be glued back together giving a 1'' wheel. i used the 220 grit to debur the wheel and to rough up the plastic for a better bond, plus it doesnt cake up with the plastic.

Nice work on the chassis....its good to see something out of the ordinary "thumbsup"

I just narrowed two of the stock wheels for the rear in a similar fashion. When i was done cutting, I didn't even see the need to glue them though. The inner sleeve aligns the two pieces and the screws keep everything together.

Besides... I was out of superglue

Tried them yesterday and they work great. Nice and light. I think you will be happy with the result.

this next set of pics are assembly process. i use the silicone grease on the inner piece to keep the epoxy from bonding to it. just wipe it off after epoxy sets up.

just make sure that you put the wheel lip in the correct direction. "thumbsup""thumbsup". good luck. if you still want to use wheel weights you can, just have to cut them down to about 10mm, which in my case is about 1/2 oz.
