Well now that this that this project is well underway I thought it was about time I got to starting a build thread. I had 2 of Bigbirds 4runner bodies in my shop so I decided it was time to put one to good use. I kept switching back and forth between detailed scale or something a bit more suited to our BC forests and rocky trails. The 1 tonne Toyota look was something I always liked so the "1Tunner 4Runner" was born. A first gen 4runner bobbed at the back on one tonne running gear and a big block motor. By my calculations it should be about a 42x17.5x17 tire set up. Chopped out fenders and some tube work to protect it, but not a full cage........yet.

Heres some mild inspiration images

I started with the shortening of the body. One inch tape made the perfecr width and straight edge for what I want to take off.

Then I seamed it all back together and I really like the length this way.

Laying out the tube work took up alot of time to decide what I like and wanted. Here are a few different looks I had during mock up.

The main halo tube is one complete tube from rear drivers side to rear passenger side. Let me say it was a bit of a challenge getting it all to match side to front to back. Still not perfect but I can live with it. Next time I think I will just make it piece by piece.

Heres a few of the side protection and the rear bumper being built.

The body still needs final trimming to line up in the fender area ect.

Well I got the paint done and the halo tube re-mounted. I ended up going with Marlin Crawler theme and when it's done it will have a few more scale features to go along with the theme.

Ready for one last coat of primer
