Hmm... Have you tried jumping on rctech or any of the other forums? Seems like quite a bit of people i've talked to wished the 3r had a back lit screen. I don't know why i hadn't seen your mod sooner. I'll be waiting 8)

Yea i have a thread on rctech and a couple on rcgroups...i kept the rctech thread 1st page for a month or so and had little results, same with rcg.

I've sold 20 here in the past few months...if you want i can hook you up with a discount if you buy 5 or more. The best price break will be at 10. Dependent on what you want will change the price.

I don't think i can do plug and play. Because of the time it takes to do it, the low interest, and inproper tooling i will no longer be making them plug and play.

It will take about 10 solder joints, however i may do all the labor for you so i can write up instructions.

I tried that with my DX3R....and it didnt turn out well. It had nothing to do with the kit LK sent...I had issues with the plugs that were in the 3R and how Spektrum attached them to the boards.

Yea i won't sell another plug in play for a 3r, after knowing what happened to yours, but for todd400 i'd be willing to install the volt reg, switc, etc installed since i will need to make instructions for the other kits.

So it would still require two solder joints for power.

Ahh....gotcha! I thought he was wanting a kit that would plug into the power switch. IMO, the two solders to the battery tray are the easiest way to power this backlight.

I think he was, but yea two easy solder joints won't take long.

Driver voltage rating

Hey losikid, your posted specs state a 6v max rating. I'm now using a life battery in my tx with a nominal voltage of 6.6. Fully charged it will be 7.2. Not sure if I will ever charge it fully cause it seems a little high but wil being a little over 6v be a problem?

The power should not be above 6v...that's what the stats say for the volt reg, so I don't recommend it...I will look though at the data sheets see if it will take it...or put a led or resistor in line to drop the power a volt or two.

Any idea on resistor value to do this? Don't ever plan on fully charging the pack. Max I'm planning is the nominal 6.6v it is now. It works fine now but you think the ~.5 volt overvoltage will damage it over time?

Yes that little bit overvoltage will hurt it over time...

you could also use another volt reg in line, to drop volt down to 5v...i'll look into what can be done here tonight or tomorrow night.

How big are these panels coming to you? I am wanting to backlight my JR R-1 radio and it has a bigger screen on it than most.
