vancouver is really expensive but nice mix of everything, houses are 400,000 and up...way up..lol, we were shure booming for years up to the olympics but things have slowed down some

So I would like to know which place so many of you people think is so much better than the US? I am not bragging on the US just trying to find out who you think is so great? Seems to me the whole world is having issues right now...........

So who in all this turmoil is so great that we must turn our heads in such envy?

Plus who in the US has been denied life saving medical help? Anyone, anyone, Bueller, Bueller?

I don't think there is any one country that tops us in everything, like I said earlier, many countries have surpassed us in different ways, but not all of them. We used to be the king of the civilized world, but not so much anymore. We've lost our direction.

7 of our universities are on the top 10 list worldwide, but we just barely squeak into the top ten for reading, science, and math.

We are the second most wasteful country, and also the second worst for greenhouse emissions.

#2 for beer consumption. "thumbsup"

#1 for incarceration.

I just wish I could figure out why they have to drive like assholes when they come down to the states.
That is my only complaint. I live about 75 miles from a border crossing and we get tons of people from Alberta and British Columbia in our area. They come down here and spend a lot of money which is great because it supports our community and strengthens our economy.

I just don't understand the way they drive....it's like speed limits are just a suggestion. I mean most everybody I know will fudge the speed limit by 5 or 10 miles an hour but the people from up north seem think they should drive 100mph everywhere they go.

Narrow twisty two lane mountain roads and some jerk feels the need to pass in no passing zones and around blind corners, tailgate, pull out in front of you, cut you off in traffic.....8 out of 10 times it's somebody with an Alberta plate.

I have nothing against them personally, I've talked with many people from up north at various sporting events and in the local stores and they have all been nice people. It just seems like as soon as they get behind the wheel they have be the biggest dick on the roads.
Is it because you're in the U.S. and don't care if you get tickets?? Or does everybody up there just drive like jackasses? I don't know because I've never gone north of the border.

Honest question here I'm not trying to be a butthole. I really don't get it...I mean if everybody up there drove like they do when they come down here you'd all be wiped out in traffic accidents by the end of the year.

It's the same problem here with Americans, so really, nobody is worse, we all suck at driving. You can thank the handy little cell phone for making this all possible.

hmm ya bad driving is a universal thing..lol, most alberta drivers i,ve encountered drive like fawkin farmers..20 clicks below the speed linit..ma and pa kettle doing 70 k when the limit was 90 or 100..couldnt get away from it in alberta..lol..we have our fair share

French people are always pissy.
hmm. any of the french people i know are cool/regular folk..although we are officially a bi lingual country french is pretty much only spoken in quebec and there really isnt much of a love affair between quebec and the rest of us..quebec is the spoiled, overfed, over represented child of canada..but glad they are still a part of us..they threaten to leave every so often:roll:..all politics:roll: the people are fine"thumbsup"

Hey, I live in Alberta. I keep it within 10 over the speed limit. I'll be the slow driver you see in Kalispell this summer ;-) Maybe these are Albertans who don't realize speed limits in the US are in mph, not kph  Honestly though, there's definitely a lot of dickhead drivers around locally, but that's the case anywhere. When we were in San Diego last year, the local drivers on the freeway up to LA scared the shit out of me :ror:

As for the whole US vs. Canada thing. Yep, we have our differences, we have our similarities. In the end though, I feel blessed to have a "foreign country" that's so easy to visit, relatively safe, and has a lot of folks I consider to be good people and good friends living there "thumbsup" To me, life's too short to argue about politics, war, religion, etc. I'd rather just sit down over a beer and BS about other things, and enjoy the freedoms we have to do so.
