This is a great idea! I'll be watching this to see how it turns out. I really don't wanna get the topper because of the weight. If this holds up, I'll be doing the same.

Damn Shelby, fantastic idea (who's was it really :ror:) and looks really nice. Am very curious to see how this works.

McMaster-Carr rules for sure, where would we be without them.

So does that mean they use 3mm screws or they are 3mm OD? That does look like it would solve a couple of problems.

Did you have to drill out the holes any at all?

Nice work "thumbsup"

They have 3mm internal threads. They are just are hair larger than 5/32" OD, so that is what you drill the holes out to.

That turned out nicely Shelby! Just as expected... "thumbsup"

Thanks J. "thumbsup"

Right on!! That's a great idea! Where did you get those inserts?

Haha Jeremy got it right below.

Knowing him, Mcmaster.:ror:

I swear, he has stock in that freaking company....

Thanks I sure hope it holds up!

Aww come on now Brian, thats cold. :ror: I actually came up with this one all by myself.

Interesting idea there! Whats the reason behind it?

I've had the upper link mount on the front axle pull out of the top axle case half. It could have been my fault from overtightening, but with what we put this rigs through these days, its not to far fetched to see it happening again. I'm hoping that these will hold. Also locktite will hold much better in brass than plastic.

Makes sense. I haven't had any issues with my link mounts yet, but I'm not putting hours a week on it either.

:ror: This rig has seen a TON of runtime in under 2 months. I've already replaced the top axle case halfs a few times.

Ok, like I said earlier, I haven't run these yet. However if your like me and want to order them anyways, here is the info.

McMaster part # 94510A030

And here is some info off the baggy they come in.

Hell, I've got an old top I was just about to toss. Might as well give it a try on an already stripped topper. Parts ordered.

Just wanted to say that I have a bit of time on the axles with the brass inserts, and they are holding great! I do suggest a little ca glue in the 5/32 hole before inserting the insert, just for a good measure.

Good to hear! "thumbsup"

I've been running mine with the inserts since I saw your original post. So far they're holding up really well. "thumbsup"

Shelby just sent a set of gears for me to lighten. They are the upgraded RC4WD gears.

They turned out pretty good
