Shit Horizon owns Losi basically, so I see the whole losi saying they want to focus on other things then crawling. This tells me that horizon gave losi the push to say that,as if losi is horizons puppet. It sucks, but at the same time Horizon just isent the way it was before. I never buy from they, nor do I go to a hobbyshop that deals with them. My LHS goes through Amain.

Just to clarify...I got this right from a Horizon reps mouth...they don't actually OWN Losi. They are an exclusive distributor but Losi is still its own entity.

Well it seems like they(Horizon) are moving away from comp vehicles and concentrating on RTR s..t. Oh well their loss:flipoff:. Looks like Great Planes and others business will pick up.

That doesn't translate into Horizon OWNING Losi. Losi has an EXCLUSIVE distribution deal with Horizon. Basically that means that if ya want Losi products...Horizons the spot. "An exclusive Horizon brand" means that its a brand that ONLY Horizon has the rights to. Again...I don't work for either company but I DID have an in depth conversation with a managing Rep from Horizon about this after all of the Jake Wright leaving Losi speculations hit the web. This all from directly from him & I can't see how telling someone that Horizon does NOT own Losi would be beneficial to em in any way.

Team Losi is OWNED by Horizon. They bought Team Losi from Gil "Pops" Losi in 2001. When Horizon bought them, they moved it to exclusive distributorship through Horizon Hobby. This is common knowledge in the racing world, as many believe Losi (not I) has gone down hill as a racing company since Horizon bought.

If you google more, you will find press releases about the purchase. None of the Losi family even works with Losi anymore, Gil Jr left for Kyosho a few years back.

Why someone would tell you that is beyond me, but its not correct.

Horizon also owns spektrum which is why you get spektrum radio components in your losi product

Horizon is not one of my favorite places to shop, it's search function is funky and it's prices are full retail. Who pays full retail anymore? The savvy net shopper always gets the best price and that's never going to be Horizon. I have to say Horizon's service on Spektrum products is head and shoulders above anyone else in the radio business, I just got done dealing with Futaba and their service is nothing very special, but the Futaba product is way better IMO.

Well im glad that eddie brought that issue up about LOSI and not Team Losi as they used to be refered to. Even to this day we all wondered if Adam Drake would leave and go AE. But he didn't. Hell, I bet a lot of people don't even realize who Scott Hughes is before he went to Axial.,lol.

Anyways, typical Horizon move. They always bail out if being a little better when they can't be the leader of the pack. I can see this is an empty promise on spectrum making a 4 channel pistol grip radio. Pretty sad when you have Airtronics beating you to the punch and even traxxas for the sake of mention.

Right on. Like I said...this was straight out of a managing reps mouth...not mine nor was it googled information. Again...I see no reason why this cat would say this if it wasn't the case so THAT & his title with the company is why I took it as fact. Maybe hes less informed than even HE thinks. I'm also well aware that no actual Losi had ownership anymore but that still...in MY mind, didn't translate into Horizon OWNING the Losi brand since there's lots of companies that are titled one name but owned by another. I'm pretty sure there's no Mr. Ford in control of Ford Motor Co....of course, I didn't Google that one either. "thumbsup"

Whoever the managing rep was, is clearly an idiot.........Horizon has never hidden the fact they own Team Losi....in fact they typically promoted it.

And the Ford family still holds like 40% of the voting power for Ford Motor Company.....no google needed.

You will typically find Horizon hobby's webstore with higher prices because they WANT you to buy from their dealers.

From my understanding, this like the AE decision was Axial's not Horizon's....though its possible Horizon did something to provoke it. I doubt we will ever know.

Thanks Eddie for standing up, I thought there had to be more that new what was right.

This was pulled from rccars:

THIS POST ORIGINALLY FROM SEPTEMBER 24, 2000
Chino, California - As part of a strategy that will allow the Losis' to focus on developing more innovative car products, Gil Losi Sr. of Team Losi has sold his company to Horizon Hobby. "Now Losi can focus on researching and developing new, innovative products that racers want," according to Gil Sr. Rick Stephens, owner and CEO of Horizon Hobby, adds, "Horizon's strength is as a distributor, and the Losi's strength is in product design and development. That's why having Gil Sr. and Gil Jr. on board in Chino, overseeing R&D, is so important to us. They know what racers want and need, and how to make sure that the product measures up to those demands. We'll work to help bring more of Losi's quality products to market faster. We're focused on getting information out to consumers, through our retailer network, Quarterlies, WebSite and catalogs. We want to keep Losi in the premier position as a world-renowned car manufacturer. Team Losi will continue to operate in Chino, California, to stay on the cutting edge of the Southern California racing technology. Warranty service and technical support will continue to be handled by Team Losi in California.

I appreciate the corrections fellas & have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. Like I said...I assumed that the source would be a reliable one & when he was in the shop...one of the guys behind the counter probed him for info & the discussion came up of who owns what. He was adamant about Horizon NOT owning Losi & had me convinced. I agree Eddie...dude's an idiot & I have NO idea why he'd bull$hit us...unless he was incredibly misinformed or honestly didn't know his own business & flubbed his way thru the conversation. Either way...I was wrong & I wasn't trying to start a pissing match here & apologize if it came across differently.

J.D.

It was nothing bad against you at all. No need to apologize.

Just setting the record straight is all. I wasn't even involved in the hobby back when the deal went through and I even new the truth so like you said the guy is an idiot if he doesn't know about the company he works for.

I'm pretty sure there's no Mr. Ford in control of Ford Motor Co....of course, I didn't Google that one either. "thumbsup"

William Clay Ford II was CEO of Ford from 2001-2006 and has had the Chairman title since 1999. He also has appeared on numerous Ford commercials over the last 10 years.
