Crawler Innovations Block Comp Tire

Well I got my Blocks in yesterday (THANKS FOR THE QUICK SHIPPING EDDIE!) and glued them up last night with some Rover sidewalls. This was my first attempt at doing this and it went really smooth. Here's a few pics...

This was just mocked up...I washed all the sidewalls and the Blocks before moving on to gluing them!

Now I've gotta work on the internal ribbing of the Blocks and then start messing with foams!

Nice work"thumbsup". Thank you for buying the tires and glue from me. I split the ring on the Rover sidewall when I cut them and I remove the lip on the tire. I butt joint my sidewalls to the tire now. I use to just lay the sidewall in there and glue it, but I get a water tight seal by butt jointing them. It also removes more rubber from the tire making it weigh less and belt sand easier.

Here's a sneak peek at a customer's set of Super Blocks. These are not finished yet, they still need to be belt sanded and have the pattern trimmed. They are 7.5" tall when mounted on the crawler"thumbsup".

Thanks Eddie! If this wasn't my first attempt at gluing I might have tried removing the bead from the Blocks, but I'll give them a workout like this and see what happens...

Does the pink compound have good lug integrity? I was talking to you at ECC looking at the pink compound Khaos, and it felt really good but the lug just folded over. The block looks like it would have better support.?.?

I cut the pattern in the front and rears just like Shane on this set so Id have something to work off of. I decided to sand down the internal ribbing and the original bead of the Block tires to free up the sidewalls and reduce weight too. I suppose I could take off a little more but Im just learning what I can get away with wirh the tire glues.

The pink compound has good luck integrity, but they wear fast! I have a pair I use on the front and they wear twice as fast as the red compound Blocks. They grab slightly better due to the soft compound. I think they will do awesome in rain and possibly freezing cold.

I totally agree with your signature Kenny.

well i made some of these and they work great. i like them much better than my boss claws heres some pics of the tires maiden voyage and my 2nd time out with the new rig

thanks eddie for the great idea of making these tires. they are amazing even without being broke in. i did end up trimming the rear the same as the front and they hook even better now

You guys have been busy. "thumbsup"

Nice work.

What Eddie said. I like the blocks for the reasons stated about lugs.

I really like that cut on the Khaos up front. But Eddie's cut-every-3rd row is proving itself too on the front red blocks. As well as Khaos. I left the row on the outer edge cause my berg will push in some situations. Thought was if extra pins are on the outside, they will help that side-wards motion.
I cut my pink blocks like my red Khaos.

Holding onto my pinks for this winter.

Looking good!
I got a couple, "those work better than the claws", while running Khaos at MidWest this year. Not to say they are better than the claws but they did some lines easier. I really like the HB compounds.
Just wait til they get nice and worn. My blocks are getting there. My Khaos's will be a year old at Nationals this year and still work great.

yea i like th hb compounds as well. i like the lil bit of extra clearance you get with these also. makes a big difference for me

Exactly. It's a little bit more clearance. A lot of folks might think the Khaos or Blocks are way taller than other comp tires. Unless you stuff these tires full of firm foams on all four corners, the little bit of extra height does not effect the suspension. But they do give you an ever so slight height advantage. Just my thoughts after testing multiple foam combos on multiple rocks types with Khaos and now Blocks.

Love these tyres! Got a set from Eddie the other week and glad i did.
The block is square so the grip is the same in all directions. They hold a line on sidehills and there`s a big difference digging uphill, with less drift on the front end.
Not tried them on different rock types yet, but i`m hoping they`ll be a good all rounder.
The best part for me is they make the same sound as a Sedona, so you can hear when they`re trying to bite.

Thanks Eddie "thumbsup"

I got to run mine today...so far theyve impressed me...Ive got to work on setting up my suspension for these taller tires though.

I've put several more packs through these in the past 3 days since I've been off work and I really do like them. They are smooth and predictable like the BC's but the extra height is a great advantage. The absence of the sidewall lugs has been noticeable too...no more pushing my rig out of cracks as much. I did play around with some different foam combos and this is what I came up with:

These are mounted on 1" VP SLW V3's

White Dot Rover Sidewalls
Red Dot HB Block Truggy Tires
- Sanded internal ribbing

Front Inner - Medium 2"
Front Inner tuning ring - Medium (Found HERE)
Front Outer - Memory 2.5"

Rear Inner - Firm 2"
Rear Outer - Medium 2.5"
