Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

Multible Models

I need help with multible models. I have 3 trucks and noticed all 3 models have the same trim settings, steering, Throttle, 3rd Channel, like a Global settings for all models. In fact, I noticed if I turn on my radio and have it on the wrong model, I can drive the car. Do you know of a setting to change this so all models dont share setting nor the same channel. I have the same RX for all my trucks as the RX that came with the radio.

Thanks

Brad

If you make an adjustment on on model it shouldn't carry over to the next model. IF you copied a model over to create your next one then they would carry but just that one time. I am not aware of anything that would link the settings beyond that. Have you gone through that process?

Futaba RX's are bound to the RX not to an individual model. So no matter what model you have it set to the truck will still react to the radio.

I have 5 or 6 different model`s assigned to my 4Pl, and I have no issues with the different models settings. Just a quick simple question, have you have got them assigned to different memory locations?

Thanks for the reply's, Yes I do have them on there own memory. I have never copied a model, they have always been a new model. The first time I noticed this was on my SCX10 Model Memory, my dig servo stopped working, turned out, it burnt up. I didnt think about it til I put a new servo in and notice the dig was set completely wrong. So I fixed it and set the radio correctly. When I switch to my Honcho model its all the same settings.

hey harley. does/can the 4PL be setup with a larger center deadband for channel 3 or 4? ie for use with a winch to minimize drifting.

thanks for the fast responce, that would be a REALLY handy feature for scale guys. i wonder if a very very high expo would acomplish something similiar?

i dont have my radio or manual here, and i cant remember...are you saying that the 3rd/4th channel does have expo on it? even though its only hooked to a 3 pos switch that can only technically be 0% or 100%/-100% "throw"

You know what, I wasn't thinking. That actually wouldn't matter. Since the radio is always saying 0 position that's as good as it gets. It's all on the servo side.

Holy smokers, this new 4pl is a kick ass radio, easy for dopes like me to figure out, it is now running my E-maxx with home engineered rear steer quite nicely and I can still shift the transmission. now to play with the steering mix.

My M11 went fast on the bay

Now to wait for my "new to me" new toy, finally found a Kyosho Blizzard DX with the blade, perhaps the ultimate "crawler",been looking for 5 years

Thanks for the help and advice Harley"thumbsup", by the way how come this thread hasn't been sticky'd yet

While I'm here can you recommend a good battery pack for the 4PL?

And yes guys, the strawberry blonde UPS lady will be visiting me again
I'll see if she will let me take her picture

Thanks again Harley:mrgreen:

I don't like to sticky my own threads, but this one does a good job of staying at the top.

I still run the stock AA's in mine, and I run a NiMH pack in my 4PK still too

I would just find any LiFE pack for the 4PK and it will work in the 4PL.

wow! just read thru all 71 pages of this thread!
It answered all my questions and problems i was having.

Thanks to Harley for all the info and answers.

Ha Ha! Thanks guys! :ror:

it would've been alot quicker if there wasn't so many posts about shipping and where to buy posts.

anyhow here is what i learned from reading:
1. i learned how to wire my XR10 with 2 FXR & BEC
2. Setup 4PL to run Dual ESC
3. Learned why my rear motor was going the other way (flipped + -)
4. Learned why one of my FXR only blinks and couldn't find neutral (Re-calibrating ESC solved it)
5. Learned why front and rear motor was going at different speed, long hesitation between going forward and reverse (Re-calibrating both ESC solved it).
6. Learned to use EXPO to smooth out throttle input.

my XR10 is officially done and ready to hit the rocks today after work. it will be my first time using the DIG functions, so i'm sure my hands will be very busy learning all these new controls :lmao:
