Aggressive driver?

Two high school aged drivers....two very different attitudes. Speed, thank you for being a good driver. Hopefully MRCC can take some of your advice to heart...
I am constantly driving in the slowest of lanes, yet some aggressive driver always tends to blast pass me, flip me off even in the slow lane. There are some crazy people out there on the roads. I really hate when im going 24mph, and some guy is just riding my rear real close..

How can you even pretend to know what its like after 6 months. And 10 feet isn't much of a buffer.
im not pretending, this actually happened to me. And 10feet is a good distance, for a 25mph zone.

Anyways, why are you guys hating on me? I have done nothing wrong, i just didn't point out my driving style like speed has, yet you think i am such a horrible driver? Instead I was pointing out the types of aggressive driving i have encountered, for doing nothing, other than driving to the rules of the road.

10 ft is a bit more than a car length for a 4dr car, at 25 mph you want to be 2.5 car lengths behind.

I don't know if I'd be considered an aggressive driver but I don't think so. One of my biggest peeves is people waiting until the last second to turn into a lane, thinking they can come up beside you and try to get in front of you. That doesn't fly with me, I'm sure as hell not letting you in. On the highway I;m always in the right lane unless I'm passing somebody, and when I switch back to the right lane I wait until I'm atleast 50 ft or so in front of the car so I'm not chopping them off. The only time I get close to somebody is when they're doing 50km/h in a 60. We used to be able to pass them on the road by my house, but not anymore since it's only a single lane with a common turning lane in the middle.

I'm guessing that I'll get flamed for this but...
Honestly, I think most Chicagoan's have to be aggressive drivers... our highways are 8 lanes (4/4) and have bumper to bumper traffic moving along at 70mph. And then 3 cars will blow past everyone weaving in and out at 90mph to 100mph easy. Most lane changes happen with no more than 4 feet of space buffer to fit into front and rear... not to mention the accordion effect, 70mph and then stopped traffic and then back up to 70... I always hear peoples tires screeching to a stop on the highway... and I brace for impact!

Heck, the medium on 90/94 is a 2 lane race track! The express lanes. Don't even think of entering if your not comfortable cruising along at a minimum of 80mph in heavy traffic with no shoulder and high concrete walls outside your windows.

You have to be hyper aware. I've come close to being rear ended from starting a lane change. You look in the side mirror and it's clear, check the rear view and it's clear. Turn on your signal and check the side mirror and blind spot one more time to find a BMW crossing 3 lanes of traffic at ridiculous speeds.

I generally stay off the highways but I am very comfortable driving up to 90mph and my car (and tires) is more than capable of that. I get nervous when the triple digits hit. It'sbest to stay in the slow lanes but like I said, that's 70mph.

My motto is there is always someone there... doesn't matter if your driving, walking, riding a bike or skateboard... there is always someone next to you.

What kind of tiny-ass cars do you guys drive up there?

From my time driving the big rig, Floriduh and California have the stupidest drivers, Boston and Chicago the most aggressive.

I feel your pain. I live in the middle of Houston and all of my freeway driving is in the middle of a LOT of traffic. I grew up in a fairly small town and really nothing that compares to driving in one of the nations largest cities. You really have to be at the top of your game to avoid other drivers which is the reason why hearing these "aggressive" stories irritates me....most of the actions are unnecessary.

Do you seriously not see the difference between you driving like an asshole and flashing your lights so people will move out of your way and when you do the same but someone in your car is injured?

BTW, I really dont think you do "get it".....you dont think there is anything wrong with you driving terribly and putting others lives at risk because you are being "intimidating" (i.e. "wreckless")...

lol, whatever dude.

Never said you were a horrible driver. And i wasn't "hating". Just saying 6 months isn't alot of experience and 10 feet is a little close.

so you use your turn signal, your still aggressive driving to me if you need to move across 3, 4, 5 lanes to stay at 55 or what ever the speed limit is....ok i'm no saint of the road and drive 10/15 MPH over the limit what ever it is where ever i'm at....but no way in hell am i gonna go from left "fast" lane over 3 lanes then back again, that is a sure way to get stopped by a cop just because of the lane swinging back and forth and they look at it as aggressive driving....if i'm driving 10/15 MPH over the speed limit safely and i get some jack wad flying up my ass doing 25/30 MPH faster swinging from right to left like an idiot and flashing his high's at me to move over, guess what fuk him/her....i'm already going over the limit and if they want to go faster then i'm going, go the fuk around me....that's like if i'm on a 2 lane country road going 10/15 faster then posted and same type jack wad tries to pass in a double yellow marked no passing zone on a blind turn, guess what i'm squweezing his ass in the dirt....i had a jack wad go into a ditch one time when i was going around 4 peddle bike riders on a narrow winding 2 lane road from behind and had my left side tires half way in the other lane on a blind curve....well here comes this jack wad that had to be doing AT LEAST 75/80 MPH in a 35 zone the other way and didn't even slow down as he went into the old canal ditch along side the road and rolled a few times....now i have to baby sit this idiot till police and possible body wagon gets here along with the bike riders who were witness's as well....good thing was the two of them get out of the car with just scratches, almost got there ass beat by the bike riders and me when they flew off the handle at me and the bike riders for blocking the road  ....sorry i don't pity those types who do shit like that around me....if i'm on the interstate and going 75 in a 65 with the flow of traffic and come up to slow cars/trucks i slow down till we all can start flowing again....ya know how many times i get jack wads going around me in no passing zones just to come up behide them miles down the road after losing sight of them behind the next driver :lmao: ....back in the 70's we had a guy on route one in NJ going north from trenton area boxed in with a slower then the speed limit driver 55 at the time....seen him coming from way back cause of his headlights jumping to and from the 2 lanes and when he got up to us that's when the fun began :lmao: ....we slowed down to the 40 MPH driver and gave the jack wad just enough room where he tought he could get in front of us to pass with a clean roadway in front....then sped up and slammed the door on him by speeding up and forced him behind us 8) :lmao: ....well we gave him the small opening where he thought he could come out behind us and in front of slower driver and BAMM slammed the door again by slowing down and letting slow driver get ahead of us :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ....now he was back behind the slower driver trying to get in front of us :flipoff: ....well we went 15 miles past our turn off to piss this jack wad off when slower driver turn off to where he had steam blowing from his ears :lmao: ....wnoder if he ever got the hint  ....to all the jack wads out there, slow the fuk down and flow with the flow of traffic....you will get there in the same amount of time or faster :flipoff: ....so the morel of the story jack wads is, don't get behind me with those mobes or else get ready for some shit, i'm done  ..........bob

....

I've always thought of myself as a opportunistic driver or the path of least resistance driver where I'll change lanes on a free way to where I don't have to slow down or wait behind other cars, like I'll go from the left farthest side to middle lane to the right farthest lane and then once ahead of the middle lane car(two car length apart) I'll turn back in to the middle lane and if I'm again ahead of the car in the left lane I'll switch over to it. Yes that means I'm going from one side to the next then back but again I've never tailgated or had slam on brakes or any of that.
Just wanting to see if any one on here that is a cop like k9popo can clarify what a aggressive driver is.

LOL!!! Im the last person to ask but since you did here is my take...I assume your talking driving on the highway???Everything you described in my opinion is being aggressive, ie in and out of traffic add speed to the mix and fail to signal one time will land you with reckless driving here...

However I myself am an extremely aggressive (when im on my sport bike)

BTW, all of that lane changing doesnt get you any further ahead in traffic.

I don't think that's fully true. Around here, there are plenty of times where everyone will pile up, and drive 10 under in 1 lane for no apparent reason. I don't do it often, but sometimes I bop around in lanes so I don't get stuck at certain lights that are notoriously red forever. It seems like if you know your area, and what to expect at what time of day, zipping in and out of lanes to save time works wonders.

I hate when people argue that speeding doesn't get you there any faster. That can be debated. A: if there were true, then all drag racers would be tied. If I drove the speed limit down to AWCC, then I would have taken about 4 hours longer. But just by doing about 10-15 over, I made it in almost 8. Now in town, that may be different. But I have dis-proved that too. But I suppose that's different for everyone and their city's traffic problems.

There is a route I take to home/work in the morn from my womans. She lives in the SE Portland OR area, and I live way the hell out in the hills of Scappoose OR. There is this 1 lane where everyone piled up in for a mile just before I405 on hwy26. If I just stay in that lane(even though it is the one I need to be in) I will sit there for 45 mins. So I pop over to the right for that mile, and it only takes me about 5-10 mins. Then I merge back over right before I need to exit, and then I am golden. And no, I don't do it at the last possible minute either lol. I can always count on someone about 50-100 yards before my exit to be dicking the dog on their cell, and give me a great opportunity to pop in front of em. Probably half the reason there is so much traffic in that lane, is because everyone is half asleep, then take forever to go, causing several people to miss the light per cycle. Not to mention the jerk offs that block the intersection because they didn't want to wait at their light. I've seen that cause my directions traffic to have to wait an additional light or 2.

I just hate most drivers is all it boils down to.

In those instances, I agree...speeding gets you there faster. However, when you involve stoplights (especially those that are timed properly, like in some areas of Houston), speeding doesnt help at all..."thumbsup"

yup exactly. and even a lot of times on the highway people that pass me 5 minutes prior speeding 15 over will be at the off ramp when i get there, and in town it's even worse. you have to really know your way around and know the lights well to really benefit by speeding IMO

yeah add lights and its a whole new ball game :lmao: ....i had a woman tailgating me one time where she had a long straight ahead of me with a passing zone to boot....but no she had to be 3 feet off my rear bumper doing 55/60 in a 40 zone....tapped the brake lights to warn her to "BACK THE FUK OFF" i don't know how many times and she would back off bout 5 feet and be right back on my bumper over and over :x ....well guess what time it was to do, yup slam the brakes on and let her rear end me :lmao: ....

grabbed the wheel tightly with both hands ;-) ....

both feet squarly planted on the brake pedal "thumbsup" ....

as my ass was off the seat  ....

tires locked up and screaming for bloody murder :lmao: ....

the rear end of my car jacked up in the air ready for impact  ....

but no impact as she got slowed down enough not to hit me  ....

looked in rear view and seen another woman getting up off pass side floor from being asleep looking around like what the hell just happened :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ....

well she no longer tailgated me after that and when we came to a stop light and pulled up next me, she never looked over at me  ..........bob

I had some stupid bitch tailgating me a couple years ago on the highway. I was speeding by about 5mph, and passing people in the right lane. So I had every right to be in the lefty. There may have even been a guy in front of me. Anyhow, she was so on my ass, that I couldn't see her head lights, and it was pitch black out. She then began to flash her brights at me. I mounted and aimed a super bright spot light up under the bed of my 84 toyota 4x4 at the time, and it was lifted to the perfect height that when I hit the switch, it blinds whoever is in the drivers seat behind me. So I flipped that switch, and instantly she slows down by like 20mph. That was by far the best anti-tailgating tool ever:ror: I sometimes wish my escort sits that high so I can re-install that light. I hate tailgaters with a firey passion to the point where I am frequently thinking of little boobie traps to mount to my car, to make these people wish they never rode my ass:twisted:

not true because if the highway is busy and you drive aggressive
(not dangerous) to get ahead of all the idiot drivers that are riding eachothers asses you save time and remember the further the distance you drive at a faster speed the further you are ahead of those idiot drivers that you could have been stuck behind.
