Gauged ears

I just don't feel like I am a "racist" because of what I said.

There is a difference between being racist and being discriminatory. What TK described was discriminatory, or discrimination.

Racism is a form of discrimination, though you can be discriminatory without being racist.

I'll agree to disagree with you. IMO you are just being racist. You are basing hiring on looks. I know plenty of people with "corporate" job that are heavily tattooed and have 1" + ears. Two of my friends work for Apple. Another friend is a X-Ray tech at a huge hospital. I have another friend who is a head camera man for our local news station. I also have friends that look like that in firefighting, EMT's, local business owners, graphic designers, loan companies, etc....

We choose to look this way. But at the end of the day we are now in the minority of the population. No different than any other race that is discriminated against. It is closed minded people such as yourself that only make it harder for people that look that way to get a job, treated equal in public, church, etc....

Maybe you should take the time to get to know a few of "us". Maybe then you will realize that we are college educated, Christians, have family of our own, morals, standards, and are all around good law abiding people. My advise is get used to it. My generation is coming in and yours is going out. (born in 75 BTW).

Looks should not matter in any way. If that person can perform whatever task they are hired to do and do it well there should be no prob. If the guy with the big ears doesn't have a shot I sure fell sorry for the Mexicans, Blacks, Asian's, etc....

The Bible says don't judge your neighbor, only God can judge him.

Well lets start from the bottom....I'm a sinner.

Its my god given right to "judge" people based on what ever I want.

If a group of people (age, race, and sex are a non issue) are walking towards me and my family on the street who are dressed well, and look respectable (in my opnion) then I wont be worried.

same group dressed in a manner that I feel fits into a catagory of
((( "punk, skin head, gangster, dope head, or simplly up to no good" )))
then that gives me pause,,,,questioning, thier possible intentions ect.

If a person looks lik ethe one in the pic at the start of this thread....
I have no desire to place them infront of myself, much less my family.
They may be a great person once we get to know them

BUT

All we can really control in this life is OUR OWN ACTIONS
people who do things like this are free to do so, but at what cost?

They know it will undoubtable affect how they are percieved before they do it.
So dont get bent out of shape cuz they get overlooked for a clean cut candidate for the same job.

One thing to remember also

It is not against the law to be a racist, or to discriminate.

My ears are at 3/4" and have been for years now. I started stretching them the day I was honorably discharged from the service as a Non Commissioned Officer. Never in the past 8+ years have I heard such close minded crap about them as what I have just read. There doesn't have to be a reason for what I do, nor do I have to justify it to anybody. Look down at me all you want. Just know that I have went to war for this country and even now with my stretched ears and tattoos I still probably pay more in taxes than a large portion of people make in a pay period.:flipoff:

that pic at the beginning of the thread is an EXTREME example. that guy is heavily modified. we are only talking about stretching your ears. i think it's safe to say that 99.9% of us will not end up doing most of that stuff that he has done. although i've talked to that guy a couple times, and he is a real nice and smart guy.

This guy may be the greatest dude ever..but it would take him longer to "gain" my trust than it would if he had not
done the peircings/tatoo of the face.

I would choose to NOT hire him based soley on his peircings
In fact, I dont let my nephew wear his earings on the job.

My nipples started out as 16 and are at 14 now. My plan is to get them to 10. 2 more sizes to go!
FAWK THAT!!! i have mine done, they were pierced at a 14ga and that's where they've stayed! i actually passed out when i got the first one done, went back the next day to get the other one done and it didn't even bother me!

i have my septum stretched to a 6ga, i want to go to a 00ga in it but i can't get it to stretch! i've tried everything aside from going to a shop and paying to have someone else shove the next size in. i've been at this size for 4 years, i'm about to give up trying to go bigger!

This is definitely an extreme case. I would venture to say that the largest portion of people with tattoos and gauged ears present themselves in a better way. Be careful who you trust though. Would hate for you to pick the pedifile over some guy with stretched ears or tattoos.

that's a very good point. a lot of times those types of people blend in rather than standing out "thumbsup"

I got both pierced at 16g and went up to 14g without any problems. I'll be going up to 12g this winter then 10g next summer.

I started with a normal hole and went with a 8 then a 4 now I'm at a 2
