the mud/water there is obnoxiously rust making... it is not at all clean water.

prep your vehicles.

I was actually quite surprised by how little wear there was on my brushes. I was in that water a lot and I figured my brushes would need to be replaced. They look almost new still. So far I'm really impressed with this Crawlmaster!

This spot is down stream from an area with a lot of traffic, it doesn't surprise me that the dirt is all stirred up in the water. The wraith is perfect for this spot since it's almost an all plastic (or aluminum in my case) vehicle. My driveshafts are really the only thing to rust, hopefully all my internal gears are greased enough still that they're fine.

I had some packages awaiting me yesterday... :)

And mms, my Wraith is still a mess. Haven't even thought about opening up everything eww.

Just hope the spare cans and armatures get here from HH before Saturday else may have at most one truck, if that, on Sat.

one of my brushes was seized up in the wraith with dirt. i think it was a result of being submerged in that freaking mud. it broke in half when i was trying to pull it out, motor was FULL of dirt. hoping a cleaning and new brushes will fix it. maybe i lucked out that the thing wouldnt move at all.

will WD40 work as motor cleaner/protection?

remember when my old tekin motor smoked like crazy and looked like it was on fire?

that was wd40... not even alot of it, justa shot of it on the endbell.

im not a motor expert but i think its more important to try and keep debris like dirt and sand out while running and then making sure to clean and lube the motor bearings and endbell afterwards. probably a couple threads on proper motor maint. for muddy stuff somewhere on this board.

From my old days of racing, I never used WD40 on my motors and I love that Shit, got a can in my shop, one in the garage, one in each car and one in the RV. But I found the motors are best cleaned with motor cleaner, then run (Important to sling out unused cleaner. DON'T use LP air as it will blow the grease out of even sealed bearings), then a drop or two of instrument oil on the bearings. Try to keep the oil off the commentator, stator and brushes.

This pen oiler has always been my goto oiler. precise, lug sticks well and penetrated well.

I have at least one new Dynamic Concepts EB body if your going to build that up.

Not to be a bitch, but who ever filled your hood surely ****ed it up. If you want I can fix that.

Need some help.

My company is laying me off (YEY) but they are keeping me on for an extra 3 months to train a bunch of new engineers on Systems I built for our Power Plants and the Smart Grids. Actually a good deal for me, 4 months to clean, sort, garage sale and pack the important stuff, then we will leave near the end of September and stay in the motorhome until the house is ready. And I get 8 months pay and genes plus my next 2 annual bonuses plus my retirement

Anyway, so I am working on my Big Red Hilux to finish it up, that will finish up all 3 Hiluxs C1s (other than some lights). The Mog in C2 and the Wraith in C3 are running good. but now I have a stack of projects and looking for help on what to work on next. I have the C3 6X6 Betty that I will probably finish next, then I have a C3/C2 8X8 project on SCX10 Axles, a C3 1/6th Scale Willys on Wraith axles and a C2 Jeep JK on a original Trailfinder steel chassis on SCX10 axles.

What do you think I should bring up next.

i was not showing off...

i had no idea how big of a pit that hole was hiding. i still dont really know what happened, i think i was straddling a couple BIG holes and slipped in one when i was getting out. shoulda popped it in reverse and nailed it the second it started to fall in, but at that point all we could do was hang on.

it took the rest of the evening after getting back home cleaning everything at the car wash... i just pulled everything out and powerwashed it all. my little trucks, my lipos, all my tools, everything. and then a good chunk of monday to track down why the guages quit.

all in all, 2 lost wrenches and the gauges quitting aint too bad considering what happened.

liz LOVED it. "thumbsup" any other gf ive ever had would have needed to go clean herself off and sit in the toyota the rest of the day. liz wore that mud with pride, you should have seen all the truckers checkin her out at the truckstop on the way home.

Should have asked... I actually just got 2 EBs to use as backups.

Oh yeah, it's a butcher job... but think I'm gonna leave it that way; redneck all the way.

Neil, this garage sale you mention...are you going to be selling any tools? I may need to drive up there for that one (and to get my scroll saw).
