Homeland security shits on Border Patrol

Back on the original topic, I live close to Casa Grande which has a very large Border Patrol precinct and I see these guys almost everyday, I talk small talk with them from time to time, and they are discouraged to say the least, these patriot's are being demonized and slandered by our own goverment.
They are being denied the tools they need to do the hard job they are supposed to be doing.
Remember, Border agent Terry was shot after only being allowed to fire bean bags at his killers. Which by the way had guns our goverment sold them.

No, now we've just opened up their potential market. Do you think every person who consumes a drug has the ability to make their own? Do you think the price would magically drop because it's now legal?

I would agree to a point.

If we learned anything from prohibition, its was that taking a common and widely used substance and deeming it illegal does nothing but drive prices up and puts a heavy burden on law enforcement and tax payers, not to mention an increase in violence. There were more than a few bad guys who rose to power and made their riches by supplying illegal substances.

I'd also point to gun control as an example.

Legalize some drugs (not all) and I would bet that you'd see the really hard drug use fall. And, since those drugs could be produced in the US, there would be less coming from across the border, resulting in lower prices and way less profit (and power) for the big drug cartels.

I believe it would work, because really, what have we accomplished during our War on Drugs?

The market for drugs is as open as its going to get, nobody says no thanks Jeremy I don't want to rail lines, that's against the law. If anything it promotes use among the wanna be cool kids.

It didn't work for alcohol, and it hasn't, and will never, work for drugs.
If legitimate businesses make the drugs it will put all the cartels out of business since they make their money off the risk involved in producing and smuggling illegal substances. barely anyone cares enough to make their own booze because its just easier to go to your local liquor store and buy a bottle of jack rather than having to distill your own. Sure there purists and hobbyist that probably get a kick out of making their own.. then you're in the tax evasion territory
 
The only drug I believe should be decriminalized would be pot, I feel it is less a destuctive substance than alcohol. As for the rest of the cocktails out there, coke, heroin, meth etc. they should be treated with much concern as they are destroyers of families and lives.
Yes idiots will always abuse abusive substances , but making them legal is'nt the answer.

You don't think that if it wouldn't get people fired for failing to pass a drug test at work that more wouldn't use for recreation. I know a number of people who don't for fear that their company would administer a random drug test and they'd potentially lose their job.

Meth, maybe. Read up on its history, its original form was not the toxic sludge, psychosis educing formula it is now.

Coke, no.

Heroin...dirty no, higher quality...maybe. It's already widely dispensed as a pain killer, though it is a bit too easy to OD on it...

ONLY if they can do it for cheaper. And with our governments record on "sin taxes".....there's no way in hell it'd be cheaper. Kind of like buying a receiver from Futaba and one from China. Same general shit, 1/3 the cost. Why buy the Futaba? (we'll see if anyone from who went to our state finals can answer this question) :ror:
