Would you buy an engine sound simulator for your RC?

Ok, i know this sounds funny. But it got me thinking last night.

Our trucks are remote controlled.
So the signal is thrown wirelessly.
Remember quite awhile back what speed controls once looked like?
They were a series of contacts that one were joined togther the truck would stop, go forward, go faster, go slower, stop.
Ok. So what if the same idea was applied to be applied to a throttle linkage inside the RC.
As you throttle, a micro servo throttles along guiding a plate across a series of contacts arming each sound.
Now you have true sound based off your throttle.
The speakers can be cell phone speakers.
Once they are modeled inti the correct case with an appropriate apmlifier.
They should generate the proper tone without much power at a decent volumn.

Am I thinking wring about this idea?

I really think you will need something with a better bass capability then a cell phone speaker. I think you would really want to look into something around 1-1/2" in a sealed enclosure to get some sort of realistic tone.

That's a perfectly legitimate idea, and we could even do it without the mechanical bit... Different sounds at different rpm.
The hard bit is seamlessly mixing sounds through rpm range without "stepping"

I think "steps" are fine, it's just getting enough of them to sound good. From what I have heard of existing units, that means 16+ steps.

x2 about the cell speaker,

The simulator i posted has 58 different steps (58 sound samples)

Thats basically what it be doing, but all digitally. Getting throttle postion isn't hard at all, blending the sound samples together could be a task to amke it sound realistic.

yeah, found that one too... obviously forgot to post it.
I think the software is easy enough if you can find a multi-channel sound chip that will play different channels simultaneously.

You posted it, kinda. Posted a link to their website.

Hmmm... we have progress!! I will have more information shortly "thumbsup"

Stomping your feet and crying like you've got a full diaper only gets a person so far. As much as I would like to see this come about, I'm 100% behind Tzi.

See, Im glad you did that Tzi. I was gonna post something and stopped.

cogfounder, you have a lot of nerve and seriously need an attitude adjustment.

Personally, I don't think you deserve anything from any vendor here because you seem to think that your shit don't stink and you have the right to talk to people anyway you want.

:flipoff:

This is how I picture cogfounder

Anyways, I'm still in to see what can be made. But unlike someone here, I wont have an attitude about it, come up with some lame price point, and demand it be made now.
would love to hear what you guys do.

I'm game for helping, but its far from a priority. If tzi can get the sound mixing and software figured then i'd be willing to look into making them...but i'm still way behind on the other project i'm working on for tzi, so it may be awhile. I should have plenty time though here soon to iron out all my ideas into proto's, as overkillrc will be on vacation for a few months here in a week or two. (I'll be moving)
