Oops sorry JD, ended up having too much fun and forgot about this.
So I am back home now and am loving being back in my own time zone. The trip was great and it was awesome to catch up with familiar faces from last year and to meet some new faces that were absent in 2011. I managed to score 65th in pro which I am pretty happy with. I was shooting for top 50 which I would have been able to get. If it had not been for the rain on two courses I would have finished much better, they just became slick and extremely unpredictable .
On a course where others were able to rack up minus 80's, It took me 90 seconds to complete the first gate which I had to take in the end any way. On this course I managed to finish 8 of the 10 gates, had it not have been for the weather I could have easily racked up a decent minus score. Then there was the course up at the look out, which I dubbed the slippery slabs, again I waited in line for my turn and the heavens opened just before I stepped up. With the wet sand that was getting tracked all over the course I only managed to finish 4 gates before pointing out. This course was a killer and I did not think I would finish it anyway but I could have done a lot better if it were dry.
My highlight for the comp was on the Rowdy Racing course were I had Joel (Skalldidog) spotting for me. I can not begin to explain how good it is to have an experienced driver leading you through the course and keeping you on track with the location of the next gate and where the bonuses are. Just to have some say "just follow my feet" and " don't worry about gate 3 just take it and move on" really makes it easy to get through a courses and manage your time effectively. I managed to get a -10, which now while I think about it should have been a -20. Ah well I signed off on the score card so it is my own fault. Thanks Joel your help on this course was invaluable.
All in all I am happy with my efforts and had an absolute blast this past two weeks.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my sponsors.
To Don at BWD, thanks for the killer chassis and support through out the year.
To John at Holmes Hobbies. Thank you for the killer power plants that help to make my rig do what I want it to do.
To onetencrawlers, thanks for having high end parts available in stock when I needed them.
So I picked up a couple of upgrades while I was away. Don bought a long a new CF thing for me to install and I also grabbed some of the new Super 300 HD universals from John at SDS customs I've also grabbed some wraith knuckles from the onetencrawlers.com.au shelf to get the most out of these new Uni's. So in the coming days I will be installing these and putting them through their paces.
