This is FAR from the free country advertised. Big Brother makes us wear our seat belts, register our cars & tells us what we can or cannot buy, own, make, grow or ingest. That's just the price we pay for living in this great country. Sure...I disagree with a LOT of laws in place but I always try to look at other societies & remember how good we actually have it.

Drugs will NEVER be legalized in the U.S. For you Mary Jane lovers...you SHOULD be happy about this. Back when I smoked weed in the late 80's...early 90's, an eighth of good skunk bud cost $25-$35 bucks. I'm sure its more now & with all of the new sticky icky types of weed...qualities will differ. What do you think Uncle Sam will take as his cut should weed be legalized? Let's say you buy a dime bag for what...$20? How much do you figure taxes will be on said dime?

We've all seen the tobacco taxes go from the normal average of 7% or so to damn near 100%...& thats for cigarettes, chew, snuff whatever!!! I personally dont partake in the tobacco products but thought it was plain fugged up to over tax those that do.

You guys would be in tears within a week of the legalizing of MJ when you started paying DOUBLE what you did before the gubment started regulating your happy sack. Something to think about when you say you're for legalizing da maryjahwanna.

i think you might have read too far into my comment, i don't partake in any illegal drugs. i smoke cigarettes but that's it. so i personally think they'd be okay being taxed, and it would save us in excess of $40 billion a year if it was all legalized because then the government wouldn't have to fight to keep it out of our country, not to mention the amount of money that would be saved by not having people clogging up our prison system costing us $40-60k each just for posession.

FWIW, I would be perfectly fine using marijuana medicinally without the high. As long as it made the pain subside, didn't make me puke, and doesn't wipe me out for the better part of the day, I'm all for it. But from what I understand, every attempt so far at synthesizing has resulted in undesirable effects, or a loss of the benefits that would make people want to have it as an option for pain control in the first place.

The problem with havin the pain relieving effects of marijuana is that it come from the euphoria produced in your brain that helps to numb out your pain receptors. It's that same euphoria that give you that high feeling. I think it's euphoria. It's some Kind of wierd scientific word like that

Being a person that deals with chronic pain daily...I get easily annoyed with people hiding behind their ailments to smoke dope. If I & so many others don't need it...neither should you. Obviously those who are terminal &/or have AIDS are the exception.

Small correction. A dime is $10. Hence dime. A dime is $.10. A nic or nickle bag is $5 cause a Nicole is $.05. Easy way to remember. At least that's how it is where I live. Here's the problem with what your saying about the Taxes getting high. MAYBE they will. The taxes can only go so high. If it gets out of hand noone will buy from the dispensaries and they will just go back to the usual black market dealer. This goes back to what I said in my last post. As more dispensaries go up the price will either initially go down so that dispensaries will appeal to more people and then over time taxes will raise the prices. As the taxes go in the dispensaries the price will in theory remain the same on the street so people will instead of going to the dispensaries, go to unlicensed dealers for a cheaper product of the same quality. And that is the reason the prices should in theory stay at a stable level. It's not like tobacco or alchohol. You can't go to your local dealer and buy a pack of his own grown cigarettes or his home brewed beer. Because marijuana is so easy to grow people will always grow there own and that will keep the unlicensed dealer around for many years to come. Even though it may be legal and there may be dispensaries. Hope that makes sence.

Its my body according to the constitution & what I do with it is my choice.
All drug laws are unconstitutional & the herd voted them in without a clue nearly 100 yrs ago.
Drugs like poverty & death are inevitable human conditions that laws are not going to change.

NOBODY said that the euphoria doesn't cause a high. That's what a high IS...EUPHORIA. It was said that the euphoria caused from the mary J was not the pain relieving quality but a side effect of it...just like ALL narcotics. Doctors don't prescribe pain killers because being high relieves pain...they prescribe it because the ingredients relieve pain & the "high" is a side effect. That's why SO MANY drug companies are spending million each year to provide the pain relieving qualities without the high. Why? Because MOST people in the world are fine with life & don't need to be stoned to be happy or have a good time.

You sound like every other pot head..."Weed's never killed no one maan." I'm not interested in doing a search but am willing to bet that there are a number of deaths each year caused by smoking weed. They might only be car accidents or suicides but death is death.
