this will be like all my other threads on here, i will try and update it whenever possible. i will most likely have several questions on this as it is my first tamiya.

ive been looking for an onroad again for the last week or so until i saw 2 tamiya tt01 for sale on here and decided to pick both of them up mainly because its a tamiya, and ive heard parts can be a pain to come by. one of them is a roller with servo, the other is artr with an xl5 and a 12t brushed.

im building it to be fun and mess around with it, either at home on carpet or outside on the road.

right now the plan is when they both come in is to strip them down one at a time and see what needs cleaned, fixed or replaced. when that is done i will find a wrx or evo body for this. it will get trimmed and body holes drilled then it will be sent to florida for paint.

right now i have a few questions.
is there an adjustable motor mount for these so i can try different pinion and spur combinations?

what is the easiest way to tell a tt01 apart from the other versions? like the tt01e and tt01d

is the yeah racing aluminum upgrade kit worth getting?

are the bearings that come in the upgrade kit worth keeping or should i put someone elses bearings in it?

picked up the tt01 from my friends house tonight, the other one is on its way.

i havent gotten the chance to take it apart yet. from what i can tell, it has an open front diff, and a locked rear one. i dont know what the rear one is locked with yet. the rear suspension seems stiff with the front end being much softer.

it did come with a white, green and red gtr r35 body on it, but it will not be used. i have an idea for what lexan body i want to go with but i want to see if a hard body will fit.

got the one able to move under its own power a few days ago. its loud, and the stock tamiya servo sucks. also im going to redo the steering linkage to try and give it some adjustability. also im going to try and pick up some sprint 2 shocks and see if they will work on this.

the second tt01 came in yesterday. it turns out that its a tt01e! and already has an alluminum driveshaft, bearings, adjustable oil filled shocks and servo posts!

the only bad part is that the top plate that goes above the driveshaft. it also needs torn apart and rebuilt desperately!

I just got one in a trade and know nothing about them....at all. lol. I will be watching this thread to help give me ideas with the one I have. The one I have has an upgraded alluminum shaft as well. Both diffs are open though. Only problem is that the front knuckle is broken.

im new to the tt01 as well. i searched enough how to identify a tt01 from a tt01e.

i havent gotten a chance to take either of them apart yet, or give the tt01e a closer look. im rebuilding the tt01e and using the other as spare parts as things brake on it. i did check the offset of the wheels however. the wheels that came on the tt01e were 3mm offset hpi wheels. im assuming that these wheels will work with a 190mm body.

Best thing about the Tt01 is the parts are cheap enough and easy to find, depending on what you're trying to do. If you're looking into drifting the first one with the stiff rear end, and open front would be a good start. If look into a one way diff you could have a decent drifter right off the bat. "thumbsup"

the easiest way seems to be is that the tt01e has a top chassis plate above the driveshaft, and full bearings.

i finally started to rebuild the tt01e. that is the one with the alluminum shocks and driveshaft.

so far ive noticed that it does in fact have a seperate shock tower, meaning the diff housing and shock tower are not 1 piece. so that means it was either originally a tt01e or it was converted from a tt01.

i took the shocks off the car because they had very little to no suspension travel. i fixed the travel issue by taking off the rod end that was on them and replaced them with axial ones.

you can tell from the pic which one had no travel and which one did

i did notice that one shock shaft was bent so i straightened it as much as i could.

i finished the tt01e rebuild last night. i didnt really mess with the diffs, so i dont know what condition they are in. also i put in 35wt losi shock oil into the shocks.

the only parts from the tt01 i used were a couple screws, the foam front bumper, hexs and the 3mm offset wheels.

im thinking about putting in a castle 4600kv 4 pole motor in this with a castle sidewinder or duratrax element esc into this.

trying to get this thing running using an hpi motor, axial ae1 esc and a 6 cell nimh battery. i need to find a pinion that will work before i can move forward.
