MitchellY UGC Stingray

You need to buy a weed... errr... jewelers scale that can measure tenths of a gram.

I know some larger scales cannot register below .5 oz initially. once, over .6 oz they can register .1 oz increments. 'm going to assume that's what is going on with your scale.

I use a Tanita, which I've had since high school for some reason... Hahaha

Yeah, mine doesn't register until it gets to .2oz.

I guess those scales are in abundance over where you live!

Are those ti axles? Whos are they?

Looking forward to seeing this evolve into a running rig! Put up a video of it showing just how smooth those outrunners are under load "thumbsup"

Carbon uppers done per Sidehill's lengths of 115mm front uppers and 183mm rear uppers. Made from 4mm hollow carbon rod with Revo ends and aluminum balls.

Weigh in at an amazing 0.0 oz. Dam things wouldn't even register on the scale!

Does your scale measure in grams?

Nice chassis. I'm still not 100% sold on the no skid concept but the vid DID impress me.

I'll be watching. Lil bro went huge with his build. Did he sell your kidney when you weren't lookin?

J.D.

When talk first started about this with the team drivers, I wasn't 100% sold either...until I saw Sidehill drive one of his first prototypes

I wasn't sold either until I drove it. It is different, the chassis does not weight transfer conventionally, it rocks back and forth at the pivot point instead. Once I acclimated to that, I quickly found it to be the most capable rig I have ever built.

I'll get that video as soon as it's together. Unfortunately the scale doesn't. Only Kg and oz. I'll have to get a pot scale soon. No stupid, not a weed scale, a pot scale, you know, like they use to measure the weight of kettles and stuff?

Ok, update, axles came today from Rob_B! Specs so far, VP Motor plates, VP upper link mounts, aluminum tirod (Soon to be Chaotic 1/8") and stock gears (soon to be RC4WD). Other goodies for the axles to be delivered monday.

Another set of outrunners on order to try...Turnigy HeliDrive SK3 Competition Series - 2839-1700kv (450 size heli)

More powerful and higher quality.

I'm curious to see how the motors work, I went with Sidewinder Micros on my build so I could try some outrunners if I want to! What ESC's are you going with?

Same as you! Sidewinder Micros :) The thing about outrunners is runtime, and for equivelant power, they're way lighter. The outrunners I'm running to start with are about a third the weight of a light 540 motor.

Well Mitchell was to lazy to do the tires himself so I'm doing them for him

Starting weight 14.4 oz... We'll see what it is when they are done "thumbsup"

Im interested to see the outrunnes also.

I'll post up a video for all to see.

Interesting build!
I really like the look of the Stingray chassis.

As far as i know the XR motorplates have 25mm mounting hole separation.
Do you have an adapter plate for the outrunners or do you drill the motor plates to mount them?

Yes the XR plates have 25mm holes, but CW Crawlers made me a motor adapter plate. It's getting here today so I'll post up pics once it's here "thumbsup"
