To replace my stock poison spyder wraith servo that burned out the first try, Axial sent me a Futaba S3305 servo with 124oz torque. The only issue is that it clearly states using Ni-Cd only? What in the heck? Is this 1985 all over again haha? I do not even own a ni-cd battery! What do you guys think?

All the futaba stuff says that. Pay no attention to it. That servo won't be any good in a wraith though.

Well the stock servo that came with the wraith lasted all of 15 minutes on a dirt road. This is the replacement they sent me. I am getting kind of bummed if it isn't going to last at all either, I didn't pay 400.00 dollars to have to turn around on my first run and drop a 100 bucks on a decent servo. :(

You half to pay to play.

So in your opinion, how much of the $400 you spent should be invested in the included servo?

I am not here to argue because it is obvious we do not see eye to eye on product quality. As a chef all I know is that if I create a menu that doesn't reflect what the consumer expects or pays for then I am out of a business. I expected more than at least a single run time on my stock servo for 400 dollars which might not be a lot of money to you but it is to me. So to answer your question then yes, I do expect at least some quality for my money.

I thought this was a discussion, not an argument. I guess I'm rubbing everybody the wrong way tonight. Lol. The rtr is only $90 more than the kit. For that $90 you can't expect much. If the rtr only included a servo I can see how you would expect it to be a quality unit but the servo is only a fraction of the included electronics. To be honest $400 is a lot of money to me. That's one of the reasons I bought a kit.

That servo will last perfectly fine in your wraith. It doesn't have the highest torque rating out there, but it does have metal gears and it isnt too slow (at 6.0V). What they sent you is better than what comes with the truck. Run it and have fun! "thumbsup"

Not new to the hobby but I am new to the crawling/rock racer scene, but I do expect to get at least more than a single run/use out of anything I purchase. I do know that I would eventually have to replace the servo but wasn't expecting a single run out of the stock one and honestly wanted to upgrade a few other parts first.

Futaba 3305's are awesome little servos. They aren't to fast, or slow, but tough and decent torque with metal gears. By far a superior upgrade to what the truck came with.

If that expected to get a good servo on top of an exelent esc, you're crazy. AE-2's are awsome esc's, then the little tx and rx, then that didn't leave much for a servo. That servo barely does 1.9's. they use that servo to get it sold.

So one should expect a single run on a brand new rtr and then have to shell out a 100 plus for s decent servo? If the stock servo was ok then Axial would not have shipped me a new one with 0 questions asked. Come on guys...one 15 minute run and then burnt out? Tell me you wouldn't be upset.

I most definitely would be upset. "thumbsup"

I definitely would be frustrated.

I see you guys would be frustrated and Nigel I do understand what you mean by "pay to play" I knew I would have to upgrade the servo eventually but one run is a little much. I will give Axial credit, they did send an upgrade "they claimed" within a week without any questions asked. But I would like to have at least a few runs in to upgrade a few more things other than the servo asap.
