Ok I searched hi and low and cant really find my answer. I want to know if I am going to have to do anything to run this servo on 3s , because it says it is rated for 2s and says nothing about 3s power. I do not have the software to fine tune the castle bec, will it be fine just running off the bec in it's default settings?

I am assuming that you have the external CC BEC. It comes default set to 5.1v which is too low for the 7954. To get the maximum torque from from the 7954sh you need to run it at 7.4V which is approximately 2S. Any higher than 7.4 volts you risk letting the magic smoke out of the servo.

You will need to find someway to get access to a Castle Link to program the BEC.

+1, run the 7954 @ 7VDC or higher. Good luck with the servo, it's the only HiTec servo I don't recommend after having issues with several of them.
Yes, HiTec did repairs on them, but I still had issues. If your's dies, get it repaired and sell it off and get a 7950."thumbsup""thumbsup"

Yes the CC bec
So I'm actually going to be under powering it by running on the default castle creations setting
For the 10 amp bec,is there any way to increase the bec WITHOUT having the castle link? Is there risk of harm by under powering the servo ?

Running a lower voltage will reduce torque output. Won't hurt the servo though.
Check around local guys or your LHS, they may have a CC link you can borrow.

I have 2 7954's. 1 on a 10lb Wraith for over a year with 0 issues and 1 in a Honcho for almost as long, also with no issues. Not sure why so many people are having issues with them.

Well it should be here soon and I hope it's good cause I had an extra savox servo but they are always trying to find center. So I thought I'd try a different company

Any digital servo will constantly search for center, there's no way around it.

Savox runs a pretty high resulution so it tends to be loud due to gear mesh and finding more of a finer center point. Also savox high tq servos never had any love in my rigs, couldn't keep em from glitching even on a seperate bec and seperate voltage sourse.... But that's another topic.

So is it a problematic servo?

In my house?, yes. We've had issues with 2, one of them had issues twice so call it 3 issues in all.

I have 4 of HS-7954SH servos and I have never had a problem with any of them. Others have reported problems.

We run 7955's in scalers & 1.9 comp rigs with no issues.
We run 7950's in 2.2 comp rigs with no issues (well, we did break one due to a fall).
We had 7954's in these same rigs and had issues. It's my only complaint on HiTec servos.

YMMV.8)

Sounds like a crap shot and a bit of personal preference with some good luck. Asset least I've heard they have great customer service.

I have one as the steering servo in my Losi ten scte without a hiccup for close to a year now, the other one I bought for my wraith smoked out shortly after hooking it up to my cc bec pro. It lasted maybe 3 packs @ 2s power. I just thought I had done something wrong wiring it up, I used mini deans to hook up the power to the bec and left the signal wire to the rx in the stock plug. after reading this I think Ill try the 7950 for the wraith.

$80 is more mid-road for me, budget would be my savox 1256tg at $60 but I hear what your saying seen that 7954 going as high as $180.
