New camera out

For $50 the standard def. one doesn't sound to bad. If it gets screwed up you can save up for a gopro, or you can save up for a gopro and then sell the other one and get a little bit back. It looks like a good starting point though. I'd put one on my mountain bike and a gopro on my motorcycle.

there are a few videos on youtube that show the actual quality of the cameras. and i gotta say for the price, it looks to be worth it.
the quality of the non HD camera is similar if not better to the original GoPro, and the HD quality is very close to the GoPro Hero2.
So for those of us that cant spend $200 on something we will use twice a month the Action Shot is perfect.

I think its awesome that GoPro has some competition.. Maybe they'll get a bit more competitive with their pricing. I have no doubt the hero2 isn't a great hd camera, but with companies selling cameras with the nearly the same specs for $50 , all thats missing is the fancy case.. Now a real
Company with a fancy case camera comes along and we may see a reality check for GoPro..
Come on GoPro.. New phones with HD camera and video are FREE with a service contract.. I think $250-$350 is a bit greedy for your camera.. About $200 greedy in my opinion.. Action shot obviously feels the same.. Haha

Kind of strange...looked at the specs and the dimensions shouldn't have been the box it comes in...3.5 x 6.5 x 11.5 @ 2.5lbs

The last link at least showed someone holding one....I might buy one for $50

I would not choose this over my GoPro Hero 2 at all!
X2! Not even my Go Pro Hero 1! Look at how many upgrades you can do for the HEROs...LCD, longer battery with the BacPac, floaties, external mics, dive lens filters, extension poles, wireless thing, these are some things I just thought of just to get the idea...but there is but loads more. Wonder what upgrades this new cam will have?

My Action Shot cam took a fall from 1500 feet or more on my 350QX quad. I flew the quad so high I could not see it any more and lost TX connection with it. The battery in the quad finally drained and they fell out of the sky. My 350qx was severely damaged but the action shot cam was not damaged at all. The action shot was in the protective shock case. it hit so hard the case opeded apart and the cam flew out. To my surprise the cam works like nothing happened. No damage at all to the cam. Even the protective case survived with no damage. Cant say that about the 350qx quad tho it required a full rebuild of the body and landing gear.
I still have the video of that incident, just haven't put it on youtube yet because of the file size is large for my phone plan.
This is something you don't want to try with a gopro.

Anybody see this yet? I might save up for the HD version, or just go with a gopro. Looks like a good deal though.

for the price it doesn't seem bad... should wait till it's been out for a while though.

I will say that the "HD" version is not Full HD.
It says that HD Resolution is (1280×720) at 30 Frames per second.
And the standard version with a resolution of 640x480 is tiny... even by today's web standards.

Full HD is 1920x1080

Another option worth looking at would be the Mobius Action Cam. I've been hearing good things about it. I'm considering picking one up for mounting on my planes. You can get them on Amazon with a bunch of accessories for less than $100 and they're small and light; perfect for RC applications.

For anything else, I personally prefer either the ReplayXD1080 or the GoPro.
