Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

:lmao:

That's weird that the Netherlands has the same type of badgers that are in California, more specifically northern California. :ror:

Indeed. Odd that. Mebbe the first Dutch colonists took some of them with them for some inscrutable reason? :ror:

But, yeah, badgers do not stand for something cool overhere. (Unless a poster calls himself "Badger" that's different)

B.o.t The Yeti seems like a great platform for tons of modding. The wheelbase being só close to a SC, it begs for a Desert truck body with all scale-goodies f.i. Killerbody offers ( killerbodyrcusa dot com ).

I feel Axial nailed it here. And, no, that's not Axial fan-boy salivating. I am aself-confessed Tamiya-fanboy, but I am not above admitting that Axial does só many things só much better than Japan's "big T". ( and I am not talking the other "big T", traxxas here. Théy have been lazy, and at a standstill since the funny-car dragster imho.. Different body for a Summit =/= new car...)

The platform seems to be pretty multi-purpose. I like that. I also like the fact that Axial is meticulous about super-detailing their kits. Just the extra sprues that came with the Wraith, and EXo, the guns, the tow thingy, sand-ladders, a choice of steering wheels, even doorhandles..my word. All that a scale-freak like me could want.

And here? A full-on fuel-cell, exhausts, fire extinguisher, drivers.. Heck! Only thing not there is flexible window-netting, but that's nothing that cannot be rectified with some Asso SC10B parts.

Does it need a BEC?

NO! now let's start the BS :)
But on the serius note, don't realy need a BEC while driving fast, the servo does not use the same amount of amps to stear with an open front diff under speed.....

I already found a theme for my Freqiskins...

X2, already setup with external bec for 3s or?

Ummmm...incorrect sir.

Assuming the servo is powered through the RX, which gets its power from the ESC, no BEC should be needed. The ESCs internal BEC controls the power out to the RX no matter what the input is.

Stepping up to a higher power servo, or hard wiring the servo to direct battery power would obviously require a BEC.

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

The ESCs internal BEC controls the power out to the RX no matter what the input is.

The input DOES affect the output. At 3s the bec needs to convert more voltage to heat than at 2s. Therefore the available amperage decreases as the input voltage increases.

I meant to say the output voltage should be the same. Most servos I have seen are rated to a certain input voltage, with no stated amperage. With the relatively "weak" stock servo, what are the chances the difference would be noticeable?

On 3s it's very significant. Voltage ok....amps supplied is a different story as Calderwood said. "thumbsup"

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

I've noticed the front and rear wheels have different offsets. This will pose a problem for after market wheels unless they use the VP SLW wheel hubs or equivalent.

Yes, I saw that too...rears using hubs with more offset to match the wider front end.

I haven't been able to find any output amperage for internal BECs, but Castle does state the output amps on their 10a BEC. Peak 10a, Continuous 7a under 12v input, 5a under 24v input.

The castle BEC is probably much more efficient than an internal BEC, but that doesn't seem like much of a gap to me, especially when comparing 7.4v to 11.1v.

Most internal bec aren't worth a damn...very low amp output which leads to brown outs and can ruin a good servo.

May not seem like much, but it is."thumbsup"

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

So one the esc it's only rated for 2s with a 3150kv motor and u guys were running 3s. Were u running a external bec or did they put that number on there to save them. I know not many will prob run 2s so are we overpowering it right out of the box?

I can assure you the ESC is rate for 3S. The Axial crew put 3S 5000mah lipo's in the rig I drove all day. I'm talking pack after pack after pack with little to no downtime between battery changes depending on how fast the minion ran (see my post about the Japanese waitress axial minion).

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

The only reason I asked is bc the supplied info on the axial website about that esc. I run an external bec on all 42 of my rigs this one will be no diff. That's good to hear though thanks.

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

Does anyone know what weight shock oil it comes with? I really need to know that before I preorder.

Pretty sure its vegetable weight.

Although.... I heard talk of it being cold fusion oil

You mean the info supplied on axial's website for a product (EXO) that was released 2 1/2 years ago? Everyone is assuming that it's the same exact ESC that was put in the EXO.

Axial is now in bed with the hobbywing folks aren't they? I bet its derived from one of those.

Edit: scratch that, I saw on bigsquid rc it is clearly castle based

I'm sorry I thought I saw an ae3 on it which I didn't. My bad! Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers from old info. I'm guessing a sidewinder 3 rebrand since they are both water proof.
