Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

I'm sorry I thought I saw an ae3 on it which I didn't. My bad! Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers from old info. I'm guessing a sidewinder 3 rebrand since they are both water proof.

In the pics you can see it just says Vangaurd programmable, not AE-3. The info I posted was purposely cut & pasted from the AE-3 because that's all they have listed right now, and answering the question about brake function.

The moral of the story is, the esc is only going to get better than, not worse than the previous versions.
Patiently waiting for everything to come together, i.e. ship dates, website info to be updated, spec sheet, etc... is probably a good idea.

I'm 100% positive that if Axial wanted information to be available to everyone, it would be posted and updated in the appropriate thread. Vendors will alert you when your pre-order will be shipping, the date of availability will be announced, trust the system, you will know.

How can you be so sure of this? Axial went from USA based castle ESCs with castle link progamability to Chinese ESCs with limited jumper programing in the scx10 line. How is that better?

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

So I was thinking I should ask this first, did the Differential lockers get fixed so I do not keep popping rear axles on ar60s? secondly My biggest issue with my exo other then my kit being wrong "one of the first" the shocks are easily busted when ramming at high speeds is there a option now do move them to the rear side of the arms?

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

Wonder what the shock length is on this beast? My new Proline Powerstrokes need a new home.

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

Rockhugger it's pretty obvious I made you mad when you didn't read my post and started talking and I called you out. Yet again I said I made a mistake and u still post something trying to be all high and mighty in the rc world which I'm sure u are. But really if what I post bugs u that much move on. I'm not here to argue man. But if u have any more morals of any stories I would love to here them. Pm me

Does the transmision come with 2 speed gears, or is it going to be an upgrade gear set?

Again you're ASSUMING that is going to be the same case for the Yeti.

The ESC is Axial AE-3 BL-WP which is the same ESC that's in the RTR EXO which happens to be a rebranded Castle Sidewinder SV2. The ESC specs that are on Axial's website are based on the EXO and with the different gearing in the Yeti the ESC is capable of running the 4-pole 3150kv motor that comes with the Yeti RTR.

Also, the Axial AE-3 ESC can be programmed with the Castle link, I know this for a fact because when I got back from Axialfest I hooked up my RTR EXO to the Casle link to up the lipo cutoff so my neighbor kids can run it without killing my lipo's.

I can't, and I'm not sure of any of it. I'm patiently waiting for Axial to release more information just like most everyone else. "thumbsup"

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

I don't know if you guys have seen the Jimmy Fallon "Tight Pants" skits but I think they are hilarious so I made a short parody with a little footage from the Yeti session of Jamie @ Axial.

I didn't assume anything. I chose my words wisely and pointed out that the next new model isn't always an upgrade. I made ZERO judgments about the ESC in the Yeti.

So you implied/referenced? Call it what you want. Also, you referenced what Axial did with the scx10 which is a completely different line of rigs.

I think my point was clear in my previous post regarding the Yeti ESC.

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

have you read the big squid review?

Most of us have, and I also mentioned it in my review as well as it has been posted at least a dozen times in the 2 Yeti threads here on RCC.

I didn't imply anything. I made no statements even regarding the Yeti. Rockhugger made a statement saying that newer is always better and I simply gave an example of that not being the case. Nothing was said or implied (by me) about the yeti or its ESC. I'm sorry if you read something between the lines that wasn't there. I say what I mean and I mean what I say and nothing more.

I don't see a mention of it in your review on the homepage. all I see are people saying it's locked in 2nd or fast, Wich could mean a couple different things. Big squid implies it will need a gear upgrade as well as a servo. I guess I'll ask a different question.. is the Yeti capable of changing gears out of the box, with only a servo and 3 channel radio? thanks! I'm not trying to be a pain.:D

I believe you would need a 3ch, a servo, and a gear set. The gear set I would presume will be released when the yeti is, so you could upgrade immediately......I would imagine, although I was wrong once or twice before

Re: Exclusive review of the Axial YETI AX90026

With others, I really wonder how much extra moolah I'll have to spend to get the 2-speed working. Manual 2-speed is just.too.cool. to pass up on.. :P

Tried my TWH yesterday to get that feeling back. It had been on the shelf for quite some time. Dunno why I neglected it, but it still is fun switching, and seeing the car jump forward in 2.

If we're lucky, it only means a medium-sized servo and a 3-channel -I got quite a few of those- I'd be a happy puppy.

But, You know what? I would be móre exited if Axial put a full set of their new light-bar housings as an option in the box. I'd prefer those to a 2-speed tbh. The full-on lightbuckets and lenses the Wraith (ánd the EXO) had in the box réally made my day (or winter-nights, to be more specific  )

It's little "gifts" like that which made Axial thé brand for me afa semi-scale builds go.

I noticed Big squid has a red one shown, Badger in your pic's someone pointed out a "victim". Did little red take a bad hit?

edit**

I found little red.. but he does look messed up at the back. Just a body panel broke off, no biggie. Maybe that's why there are no pictures of it :(

And did anyone else notice this pic? I don't usually take my tires off mid bash session.. ;) Not disputing the "all drove home no damage" but when you run anything that hard, something has to give....

I will say one thing though, bash all day like these videos do with a basher (Slash, Pede) and your looking at $10-$15 in plastic replacement parts. Break something on this rig and it could get expensive quick! I think I would be hesitant to wail on it like the videos do- that being said, these videos are pretty extreme, and I don't think it's really meant to be driven like Badger was driving!
