Steering Improvements

I did that mod once...so tell me how you solved the "tire driving up the shocks" problem?

there is a setting on my remote which adjusts how much of the steering is used, idk if you bought a new one, but i just have the stock axial one.

also i will have a look at the xr10 mod but it seems that the new cvd's, hi-cearance knuckles, steering links and od bevel gears will give me just as good steering.

The axial remote has an adjustment for Dual rate which will help with adjusting steering somewhat, but its still different than true EPA settings.

With the parts listed you will gain some steering but the xr mod is still superior in regards to total steering.

CVD's are limited to roughly 50* steering whereas the universals can get you up to 70*

Someone did bring up the down side though, if you run large tires they will hit the shocks at full turn and even worse when under compression.

I have xr steering on 3 of my 4 rigs and its great. My sons SCX10 JK has it super basic too. Plastic axial chubs/knuckles with xr10 universals and a grip fab no slop locker. Works way better than his previous VP High clearance + CVDs setup. He runs trepadors on axial beadlocks and has very minimal tires/spring rubbing especially due to how narrow the trepadors are, also I did adjust his Dual rate to minimize rubbing. My TSL XLs on the other hand, like to rub :lmao:

Just my $0.02

well i haven't decided on anything yet, but i don't really need 70* of steering, 40* - 50* is fine really, its still more than what I'm getting.

actually what i haven't thought about, does anyone know how many degrees of steering radius the scx10 gets stock?

Yes it's called epa and yeah, I don't use the stock radio. In my case, I was pissed that I spent all that money just to find that you can turn the wheels only so far until they interfere with the shocks. I would have been better off just getting a set of high steer knuckles. But now I have OD gears up front and UD gears out back and it turns nice now.

hmmm ok. with od and ud gears does it still run smooth? and also does anyone know how many degrees of turning radius the scx10 gets stock?

Axial high steer knuckles,(better clearance for wheel choices than VP knuckles),OD,UD gears. If you are running 3s, I would go with the VP CVDS' or super 300's if you can find them. The rc4wd cvds' have had breakage problems, and the Axial cvds will break at sharp angles. Mip drive shafts if you run OD/UD or you will twist drive shafts. That's about the best you can do unless you do the XR mod or run a dig.

Yes it runs smooth as butter...on Junfac driveshafts and crawlmaster pro 16T on 4s...it's awesome! I believe the stock angle is around 38 degrees, but I'm not positive. I measured it once but I didn't write it down.

So there is absolutely no drag or performance with both OD and UD bevel gears installed? Im just a bit uncertain.

I have used that ud od setup for years.....no issue. Turn on a dime and climb like a goat.....Also much more reliable.......its a win win win lol
