"The Exocutioner" a Class 3 solid axle Wrexo

So I've been looking at Wrexo's for a while now, and the release of the new Yeti really had me tempted to go that route instead but I chose not to. Instead I decided to copy a Exo Terra Wraith (s-exo) that I saw on here. I'll be using the Wraith skid, lower rails and bumper with a Exo upper cage and interior. This will be my class 3 rig so I had to follow SORRCA rules hence the lower frame rails and skid. I'm shooting for as many scale points as I can get, so there will be a 4 seat interior with two drivers, scale engine, metal front bumper (maybe a rear) and possibly a CMS if I have room for it. I'll update with more pics once my parts start to show up, but for now here's the parts break down.

ESC- Mamba Max Pro (waterproofed by Holmes Hobbies)
Motor- Holmes Hobbies Trail Master BL Pro 540 3100KV (also waterproofed)
Servo- Hitec HS-7954SH
BEC- Castle Creations set on 7V
Axles- AR60's with Vanquish Stage 1 kit, Poison Spyder covers, BeefTubes

ive always wanted one of these i have the top half of the cage i think its time i go and finish one for once. but maby ill watch this first for insperation and tips haha.

I purchased a Exo roller on here a few days ago and it showed up yesterday. This thing came upgraded and ready to run. Damn shame to have to chop it up, but it is what it is :twisted:. It came with shock braces, a couple alloy extras, front/rear sway bars and extra tires. I'll be using the IFS and pan from this rig on my FOFF/Ultra 4 chassis. Here's a shot of the cage donor on the chopping block.


The Wraith portion of this build will be here mid next week. All of the other parts should be arriving soon. I ordered a Ridemarkerz dual over head cam type engine to detail out and place in the back. I thought about using a spare tire, but buying a single XD and tire would be stupid just to have a spare and a few extra scale points, not to mention the extra weight up top.

Thats the same thing I thought when I had a set of those. Wish they sold singles of those wheels since they cost so much. :ror:

Hey MJ, long time no see brother "thumbsup". I'm updating as I get parts in. Ever since I finished up the 48 Willys I've been kinda unmotivated. So I sold it off and decided to build a nice C3 rig to compete with for the 2015 season. The last comp I coordinated/hosted only had 4 C3 competitors, so that also motivated me to call a few local guys out and try to get some action drummed up for that class, hence the name "Exocutioner" :twisted:.


The mail lady was good to me yesterday, now if only she'd start paying for some of these items :mrgreen:. RPP, Liquid RC and KrazyKrawler shipped me some parts to get the ball rolling.


I also inspected the donor axles and gave them a fresh grease job in preperation for the 2015 season. Every year (when the season is over or if I have a breakage) I split my axles to inspect them and this combo works best for me. I use Lucas Marine waterproof grease in my axles and mix the diff grease myself. It's a 60/40 combo of Lucas and Team 3 Six diff grease. I plug the BeefTubes full (about 2 inches roughly) of Lucas to keep the moisture out. The Team 3 Six is a lightweight grease and allows the gears too spin freely, but hates water. The Lucas is a much thicker grease that will kinda slow down the gears a bit, but obviously is water friendly seeing as how it's marine grease. So in mixing the two for my diffs it gives me a little thicker grease that is VERY "sticky". This combo is still lighter in weight than straight Lucas, but tolerates any moisture that makes it's way thru the housings.


My drivers had holes for mounting them that I filled using pieces off of the "tree" they came on. I glued the plugs in place and used my Dremel to smooth things over and make the plugs blend in with the rest of the detail. After a light sanding I had this.


A couple of hours later I had the drivers painted and ready for action. The fit the interior pan very well. Once everything has had a chance to fully dry I'll cut their backs out to fit the contour of the seats. I need to move them back about a 1/2" so this should do the trick.

Lol I already have two of these rigs, but they are my favorite combination of axial parts to date.

Thank you sir! You should've came. The Class 3 courses weren't for the faint of heart. Next year I'll be competing with this rig and my K5. I just have to get someone else to prerun the courses instead of me.

Not yet :mrgreen:. I keep having to slow myself down so I don't rush things and skip the details. So far I've managed to screw up the paint job on the interior, so I'll be painting this one on the outside of the lexan I suppose . I've got a few things in mind for it, I just have to keep reminding myself to watch the weight.

I got the interior painted, at least the first stage anyway. Once I get the dash decals I'll do some gauges and switches out of styrene.


I painted the red and black on the backside of the lexan and some satin aluminum paint on the outside for the seat backs. The contrast in finishes adds a little depth IMO. I plan on adding some racing harnesses next.


After cramming the drivers in place I have this.


They're sitting a little to far forward for my taste. A little more trimming should bring them back another 1/8" or better.


I placed the dash in the interior. It looks like everything will fit just fine. Once my paint has dried I'll put the steering wheel and "Oh shit handle" in place to make sure of it.

Yeah, I'm thinking about cutting the red portion of the interior out completely and using some red sticky backed foam to trim the seats out. That'll move the drivers back a 1/4" or better. As it stands the drivers will be a little tight once I mount the VP light bar.

Maybe you could do just a top portion of those tin seats you have in the K5? That might be cool.
