I should mention that I had a Mamba Max 2 with a castle 1410 3800Kv on 2s and it was not a good combo. Motor got extremely hot just after a few minutes of running. Had a 19t pinion and it was still pretty slow.

Thanks for posting that. I've liked that motor in a basher I have was thinking about using one.

I have the Leopard motor (mentioned by meanTT) in another basher and that's a beast. Think that might be the ticket for me.

I could see that. The 3800 doesn't have the power or surface area of other 1/8 scale motors. You don't need to spend a lot to get a lot. My non sensored 4065 Leopard with 2700 kv on 3S is an animal and it cost me 45 bucks plus a 20T pinion and a 56t spur. Runs 120s on 3S and the motor is rated up to 5S. I think going torquy on the motor is a better bet than going high kv. Full on 1/8 scale motors will drop in, why not use them? I think castle had a 2600 kv motor that was used by HPI and rated up to 4S. That would be a monster after proper gearing as well.

The castle 2650 is too big it hits the transfer case. I tried.

I'm running the Holmes Puller Pro BL 540XL 3500kv motor with a MMP, I love what it's done for the Yeti, it feels like a whole different beast now.

HH Puller Pro 540XL 3500kv and a MMP pushing 3s...

I'm also running the Castle MMP with HH Puller Pro 540XL 3500kv motor. I would have bought the new sensored Holmes ESC had it been out at the time. Missed it by a couple weeks.

Running 16/64 gearing, it tops out at 34mph (per phone speedo app) on 3S. Loads of torque.

Been reading a bunch and trying to make the final decision and WOW good thing I did because personally I know I will be going with HH , MMP and CC bec on 3s. I believe Rob did his home work when he built this motor and combined it with the MMP just for the Yeti..At least their is some thing we can save a little money on when up grading our Yeti because just about the whole thing needed to be upgraded if you intend to have fun.

I got a decent deal on the Vanguard ESC and motor RTR combo on eBay so I put it in my Yeti kit. Also running a Solar D772 servo with CC BEC @ 7.4V and added a fan to the ESC and a heat sink to the motor.
