The thing about brainwashing... you don't believe that you are brain washed.
From my vantage point, this whole thread is full of people voicing idea's that have been systematically instilled through the long term use of media, religion and "acceptable" society.

Yes we are all brainwashed to an extent. It's how the puppet masters keep control over the majority of us. These presidential elections are a joke. They want us to believe that our vote counts and that's just plain BS. If we the people really had control then why hasn't Obama been booted out of the White House yet? Americans are getting bent over and taking no it in the two hole and not even getting a chance to slap on some lube first. As far as all this Isis stuff goes I want our troops brought home and our borders locked down. Then coordinate with other countries and bring these terrorists to their knees. Show them that the world together will not tolerate senseless acts of violence!!!

Hey, I have an idea. Let's make some more gun control laws for the city you live in. That will stop the criminals, right?
Three reasons. A)It's like you said, the powers that be like him where he is, B) he's not nearly as bad as the extreme conservative media portrays him, or C) it's better for everyone to let him finish his term and maintain the appearance of cohesion within our leadership.
You could also ask why Reagan wasn't booted after he stole US weaponry, sold it to Iran, then took the money and funded an ultra violent rebel faction in south America.
1000% agree. Going in without a coordinated long term plan for stabilization and relative peace just maintains the status quo and costs lives, and ensures that we'll be doing it all over again.

That doesn't seem like a very good idea to me... at least not the way it's been handled in the past.
Life (or death) for all offenders using a gun in a crime, punishments for a gun owner if their gun is used in a crime.
Those two might make a small difference.
Perhaps it's time to try something else.
I'd like to see smart gun tech implemented.

Good things come to those who are willing to get off their ass and work.
Pay attention and you'll find that criminals and terrorists have a common denominator of seeking out easy targets. Do you see schools being shot up, bombs going off and crime running rampant in sweden? Nope, it's an armed and militarily trained country. Every male pens time in the military and comes out armed. Nobody is dumb enough to attack someone they know is armed, they go for the easy targets in France where defending tlt our home and life with a gun will land you in a murder wrap. An armed society is a polite society.

Not at all true, or relevant. The US has lots of guns, but the majority don't carry. We're polite because we're civil and we have laws that we (usually) honor.
That quote comes from a fictional story where literally EVERYONE has a gun and they don't hesitate to use them against anyone that might personally upset them in the slightest. If you behave impolitely, chances are you're going to eat a bullet. That is what that quote means.
The Saudis are already pouring money into alternative energy development, because they know that day is coming and they aren't stupid. Just another reason we should be doing the same....
