Yeah I can do that tonight.

Pinion angle is pretty low, knuckles are still pretty clocked back.

Wiring Fun!

Pile of electronics that are going into the truck.
  • Tekin FXR (main ESC)
  • Holmes Hobbies Mini BR-XL (winch controller)
  • 2 BECs
  • Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster Pro 35t
  • KMS K3 Winch
  • 2 Hitec 7950th
  • 4PL receiver


All the electronics have to go here:


Fitting the BECs between the servo mounts:

BEC wires snipped and ready to be soldered.


Soldered the BECs to the Mini BR-XL and shrink wrapped it


Man this is a mess of electronics


Installing the rear servo and starting to route the servo wire:


Whipped up some BEC bypass adaptors, longer one is for the rear servo:


Shortening some BEC wires:


Starting to cram everything onto the servo mounts:


That's about as much as I was willing to do on it that night, maybe I'll come back and clean it up a bit.

Looks like I need to do some fender trimming!


Rough line of where to cut, I'll have to use something round to get a nice curve!




I used a roll of 3M blue tape and made a nice curve:

After some dremeling, I cut it close with a cut off wheel and then go back in with a sander attachment to clean it up.

Then I go in and do some fine sanding to get it nice and smooth. I use one of these, Justin hooked me up with a few a while back. Thanks Justin!


After a test fit I realized I needed to take off a little more to avoid rubbing.

It was a little tedious. I had a bomber while I worked through it, it took me several hours to complete. It definitely helped that I had done a similar set up on my Class one tundra so I took what worked from that and made some improvements.

Thanks, I was happy with the overall wiring. It's not perfect but it accomplished what I wanted it to and I can easily pop out the whole servo mount if I want to.

Thanks! It's getting there, I'm working through the drop bed right now. Then this weekend I'll finish up all the brass work. Then interior next week, paint the week after that and then add a few scale items and it is off to Arizona!

I had to dry my foams out.

I've found that with 2.2s you can just take off the back beadlock ring, flip the tire and pull the foams out.

Started working on the bed.

Needed to whip up some light weight seats
Got out the 2mm foam and started cutting the bolsters


That should be enough!


Scrap foam, I like to always make a straight cut for the straight edge portion of the bolster. Makes cutting them out way easier.


Orange foam for the center section. Can you guess which color I'm painting the truck!

Working on the roll cage, tube bed:


That's as good as it is going to get:

Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Inner cage pieces bent, cut and taped into place for tacking.


Pulled it out and finished soldering it together:


Bought this case off amazon, fits the 4 PL pretty nicely. May use it when I travel to Arizona. I bought it for my 4PK to fit the drop wheel.
