Light Bars

I just bought one, will let you know my thoughts when it arrives..

The light bar arrived toay and I installed it in less than 10 minutes from start to finished, ready to go! It fits very well, I used a couple small washers as spacers and thats all I needed....for the money, its pretty bright in the daylight, will try it again tonight.."thumbsup"

That lightbar looks good especially for the price. Any way you can take a picture of the back of the lightbar? Wondering if it has any scale details or it's just the same shape as the front minus the opening for the LEDs. I'm trying to decide which lightbar I want to put in mine. The $30 price tag between this and the Vanquish one is tempting but I have to decide whether or not any scale details sways the decision. Thx

This is on 9v, had a hard time taking pictures of them on 12v, was just to bright for my camera to take descent pictures without messing with the exposure.

I'd like to know where you get your light strips as well. More so to see how many LEDs per inch your strips have. It seems there are a lot of choices on ebay for light strips. I'm assuming the more actual LEDs per inch will give brighter, more even light.

Thanks!

Axial one looks good if you install a led strip instead of regular 5mm led.

Exactly what I did. Wired direct to the battery.

That said, I just got handed a new bar from Phoenix Designs that I literally had to put sunglasses on for. Mr. Barton is a bad man... ;)

Can you share what LED lightstrips you used in the Axial lightbar? Not all lightstrips are the same and thinking about doing this as well. Did you have to mod much to get it to work. I'm not familiar with how the Axial lightbar is put together so just trying to see what's involved before actually purchasing the materials. Thx

All I literally did was remove the backing and stick them in the housing. No trimming or altering required. I had some stripping lying around from my kitchen reno, but knew that it operated at 12 volts, so I knew I could wire direct to a 3S pack.

Update......

Today i went out to the garage and the led strip had come off the delrin housing, its just a peel and stick affair and the sticky back isnt holding up well at all...i havent gotten it wet or anything like that...gonna try some shoe goo and see if that fixes it....

How hard are these to waterproof, or is that even worth the time?

It looks like that lightbar is pointed UP though. To be functional, it should point down slightly to light up the trail in front of you.

A company called TheToyz makes a 4.78" light bar for $21 and a wireless controller for $10. Been thinking about picking one up. A steal IMO

It can't be THAT bright if it runs off of a receiver and only had 6 LEDs. The really bright ones will run straight off of a 3s lipo and have quite a few more bulbs.

The MyTrickRc light bar fits perfectly with almost zero modification and is really bright. Great kit, $65 for the 5" light bar, high output headlights, 5mm white LEDs, 3mm white and red led's. Controller has 3 brightness settings, reverse or brake light function and is all waterproof. I'm thoroughly enjoying it, by far the best value I've found.

A VP 5" bar works just fine as well. I did however need to do a little bit of trimming.
