Even as we are getting into my favorite time of the year for traditional/seasonal beers ( and to help combat the depression brought on by the lack of sunshine) I was turned on to a great rum drink called a 'Dark and Stormy'. It's a mix of Goslings black rum and Goslings ginger beer. As individual ingredients I don't care for either one, but perfectly blended they make for a yummy mixed drink.

Enjoy responsibly, and when that's not possible, get a Uber ride !

My friend introduced me to barbarossa spiced rum a while back. Mix it 50/50 with cola and enjoy not having a hangover in the am. The stuff is very tasty and cheap. It's $17 a half gallon up here.

I love me some rum so I have a large selection of it on hand but this stuff is my favorite.

This is from the cidery I own....

So obviously it's my favorite adult beverage. If we're talking cocktails here's a great recipe

In a highball glass with rocks combine:

1oz Bulliet Rye Whiskey
1/2oz simple syrup
Dash of cinnamon
Top with Kurant Bees cider
Garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick

^^ I don't do mixed drinks for the most part, but that sounds delicious!

In addition to the seasonal beers already mentioned, I've become a sucker for fireball cinnamon whisky. Get it ice cold, and it's like candy that's 33% alcohol. My step Dad recently introduced me to coffee with Baileys in it, not a bad thing either.

I am desperately trying to decide what single malt to buy for new years evening, thats as you might know the only day of the year i touch alcohol.

The things that so far come to me is far too expensive for a retired Dane like myself.

?? a glass and some ice cubes since i have become a ***** in my old days.

I think i should look for Vodkas too, and then for next year maybe make my own spiced alcohol ( what we here in the old country call Bjesk )

"A tradition of “home flavouring” snaps exists in Scandinavia. This tradition is strongest in the southern areas, particularly Denmark. A snaps enthusiast will typically buy a commercially made, neutral-tasting snaps, and then add flavour to it by adding herbs found in nature or grown in a garden. For instance, in northern Denmark, various spices are added to snaps to produce a version called "bjesk", which roughly translated means “bitter”. In Hirtshals, the Hirtshals Museum tells the story of the "bjesk". Popular flavours for home flavouring include Blackthorn, Bog-myrtle, Dill, Persian Walnut, St. John’s Wort, Woodruff, and Wormwood. The herbs are commonly used singly, but some enthusiasts experiment with mixing them to achieve “the perfect flavour.”

So i bet you might be thinking,,,,,

And yes when we was young we made Bjesk with weed in it, but off course this was way before the strong designer weeds came about. ;-)

I can only recommend ppl to start making Bjesk, then you have something truly unique to serve for your non driving guests.

I used to be a very good and we'll seasoned drinker due to not only years of practice but also due to my Scottish and Irish heritage. When I got my cdl I stopped drinking if I had to drive truck the next day so I could limit my possible liability since big trucks automatically get the blame in wrecks and the driver has to take a piss test immediately. Due to that decision and my random schedule I pretty much have a couple drinks randomly through the year and then tie one on and get "white girl wasted" on my birthday.

You are saying if you drink the night before, and say stop at 10pm...

They will detect it in your piss the next day, and convict you ?

The legal limit for a cdl holder is .04 while non cdl holders are .08 blood alcohol content.

I'm not saying that there would be enough alcohol in my system to get a dui but .01% is enough trace amount for a scum sucking lawyer to pin the blame on. It's just easier in the long run to not drink the day before driving.

I don't drink nearly as much as I used to - which was a lot

When I do drink I prefer Jameson Original and a little ginger ale - on the rocks, of course ;)

Everyone here likes it on the rocks

I feel your pain. I'm also have a CDL holder, and that law stand even if you are in your own personal vehicle.
