GM 5.3 swap into My 1976 GMC Jimmy

First was cross over steering, high steer and a ram which necessitated a ORD cross member under the engine which than had to have the oil pan changed to the Holly version of the F body LS pan.

I decided it needed more shifters on the floor so a winters shifter for the 400 was installed and a ORD Magnun box in front of the 205 gave me a low low

Baller came to Colorado and we ran Chinamans. I didn't have a spotter so this is the only picture not from the drivers seat and it was because I was stuck on the 14bolt.

that trip reminded me how bad a bench seat is for wheeling so I took my Mastercraft seats out of my old truck

I also installed a winch that I got 10+ years ago and had not used and was able to fit it behind the bumper

Thanks. I am with you on more room but for now my kids are 2 and 4 so this should work until I build a four door that I bought a few years ago.

im doing a 8.1L swap/ burb 40 gallon fuel tank (both of my saddles are rotten), fuel pump in tank setup hopefully this summer..

then next year im on finding a 1980 k30 trailering special (11k, 12, and 15k gvrw) ... they are LIFT LAW EXEMPT IN NJ!!!!!!
sucks i found on in CA years ago. wanted $300. as a roller with rot.. $1000 to ship to my house.. $1300 and i ended up passing on it

so swap everything over, modify, stronger axles and 54" boggers!!!!!!!! "thumbsup"

I really like those blazers and especially those quad cabs. The ls are very capable and cheap to find as you mentioned. A 4L80E would go along nice with your trucks for the ease of cruising on the highway.

A friend of mine did an lq9 with LS3 heads and a Texas speed cam and it is a beast compared to the old sbc.

On the 8.1 you can use regular big block headers which is nice since they are easy to get.

I was wondering if you still had this, glad to see its getting used"thumbsup"

This would probably be one of the last thing I would get rid of. Lately it has been getting school bus duty so I drive it most weekdays. The only kid riding to her school in a rock crawler or something that old that doesn't have to.
