Dodge revealed the 2015 "Worlds Fastest Sedan" today

Very Gymkhana like but I'll watch it all day long. Can't believe they're letting the Viper die off though...

That didn't sell me either one. And I'm a Pennzoil guy. Seemed pointless really.

I can believe it. I rarely see Vipers. Even in their hay day I would rarely see them. You see Vettes on the road almost every time you get into your car. Sales, unfortunately, talk.

I don't like that the Viper is going away though. It was one of the last real driver's cars. It came before electronic nannies.

Vipers seemed pointless?

Are you a car guy? If so, what does sell you?

Think he meant the vid was pointless.

I seen 3 vipers last weekend, but it was nice and there was a car show in the area so thats most likely why lol.

Vetts are all over the place. Hell my ex father-in-law has 3.

yeah after i was half way threw the vid, i thought the same, it was VERY much like the gymkhana vids, the setup, the driving style, the filming style. wouldn't surprise me one bit if they were behind the movie.

i liked it. we dont get many professionally done hooning vids, so i appreciate anything they put out.
here was the origonal

I've always loved the Viper. Mostly due to it being somewhat the successor of my favorite car of all time, even had the man himself involved in the original design.

I dig the Demon also, it's cool, I get it. But it's not the fastest production car ever built, not in the 1/4 mile, and not 0-60mph. It is the current fastest in the 1/4 mile.

Neither would make my short list though, even if I had the money. I'll take an older GT3 RS with an actual gear box and third pedal please.

I agree, sales dictate but dealers also aren't trying to get rid of brand new 14, 15, or 16 models that haven't sold. IMO, limited production kept the sales low in comparison to the Corvette. Then again, Corvettes start at $55K whereas the Viper started $87K. The price alone typically puts it out of reach of most consumers looking to splurge.

15 sec Hondas.

White or fried rice?

haha glad to know im not the only one that bugged.

every time they kept calling it the fastest production car i would cringe. knowing its the quickest production car. there is a big difference in the two.
i believe the Chiron or the Hennessey Venom holds the fastest production car title.

A slushbox? They are going the way of the dinosaur for a reason. Computers shift faster than humans!

Viper owners should hold onto theirs for 20 years or so. The value is probably going to go up.

didnt watch the vid, buy theyre prolly just promoting brand equity. some corporate dick or spoiled ad guy saw a hoon video and they copied it.

and i at least figured you for a mobil1 guy.

surprised as well. it is not the fastest and is a pretty easy claim to talk shit on for all the dodge haters. i would assume somebody at dodge would think the same and pull that claim back a bit.

my last promotion i did for marlboro was giving away a hellcat. i had to fight like crazy to convince client legal to let me say 'most powerful rwd muscle car ever', a claim that dodge substantiated a zillion times.

Mobil 1 is too thin and leaks out of everywhere.
Went to (German) Castrol, it's green colored. Too thick.
Regular dino Pennzoil. Works and lasts.

Almost no one could beat this. 8)

the 0-40 european M1 formula is good stuff for us road racers. alot more zinc than the 5w-30. also thicker hot weight to keep oil pressure from droping on long runs.
not really an issue for 50 second AX runs,
not sure if you ever spent any time on bob is the oil guy forum. they do a ton of blackstone testing oil in virgin state and post oil change, checking the chemical make up of each oil and its percentages of each.

im currently running Rotella T6 5w-40 full syn. also a high zinc, true syn class 3 oil with great blackstone reports.

Slushboxes are old school autos, not manual transmissions. Manuals are going the way of the dinosaur not because they're slower, but because we've become lazy as shit as a society so nobody buys them, and autos don't hold up mileage wise as long, so the car manufacturers make more money from you in the long run.

It's not always about what's fastest either. For some of us, it's just about the mechanical interaction with the vehicle. The enjoyment of rowing through a gearbox, or a well done heel / toe shift coming into a corner. Those things will never be replaced with flappy paddles.

I don't own sports cars anymore, but it makes me sad to see manual gearboxes slowly dying off.

What do you mean leaks out of everywhere? As in you have oil leaks?

I've been running Mobil 1 moto full synth in my DRZ since it's second oil change, and it now has 23,000 HARD miles on it. When I tore into it to check the valves at 22,000 it was clean as a pin, and mating surfaces show very little wear. I am very meticulous about oil changes on it though. It's a shared system, so the shifter will tell you when the oil needs changed, don't give a shit what the book says, mine has never went anywhere near that long. Usually anywhere from 900-1200 miles the way they're ridden here.

New Subie has had 0W 20 (called for) Mobil 1 full synth in it since the first change at 1300 miles, and changed again at 5200 miles, every 5,000 from here on out. Subies are known to burn / blow out a little oil. My car hasn't used a drop. And while it's not abused, it's a small four banger that lives in the mountains, so it's not babied either.

I call manuals slushboxes. Yes, that phrase was coined for the old, power eating automatics. But these days, automatics are pretty damn good and most are better performing than a bad driver with a manual.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't ever want manuals to go away as a car guy.
