LSXGMC's Axial SCX10-II K10 Pickup w/ GCM LRT2

Damn that's a good looking truck! You're quickly becoming one of my favorite builders! "thumbsup"

Just freakin' incredible, my man!

Looks great from every angle, even from underneath... the skid is so perfectly tucked in as the floor of the cab, the body is at the perfect height on the chassis and the wheel/tire combo is spot-on.

You GOTTA submit this to reader's rides (or whatever) as many places as you can!

(sweet drip rails, tailgate latch, bumper rivets, vent windows..... and on and on)

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm impressed that you noticed all the little things I paid VERY close attention to when I built this thing, excellent eye 8)

Too bad that "excellent eye"" doesn't equal excellent scale building skills! :lmao:

I'm seriously jealous of your abilities... "thumbsup"

OK, I'm a gonna stop now - don't want you to get a big head about it! 8)

Like any truck that’s “done”, there’s always room for improvement. The driveshafts in this truck were bugging me (stock Wild Boar shafts) in the looks department, so I replaced them with some shafts from Devil RC, purchased from Locked Up RC. They seem really well made and look great!

I was able to get the truck out for it’s very first run here today for about 4.5 hours. I had a blast with it! I definitely notice the smaller tires, the truck gets hung up a little more than I’m used to but overall is still very capable. I only had one problem and that was the nut loosening off the steering link to servo arm screw.

Within the first 20 feet I picked up a boulder. This wasn’t fun. I was pretty nervous trying to get it out!

Never ice crawled before, it was actually a lot of fun!!

Thanks for looking

Your truck looks so realistic in those photos! It could easily fool people into thinking it's a 1:1 truck.

Do you do body work for other people?

Extremely scale looking! I think the smaller tires are worth it. "thumbsup"

Thank you. I said that all day yesterday - the smaller tire may present more of a challenge (which I actually like), but they look so much more scale that it is totally worth any tradeoffs. Having said that, there were very few places I wasn't able to conquer and as I learned the truck it only got better and better. I've had trucks with the biggest & best tires and whatnot that went anywhere I put it, and honestly got bored because there was no challenge.

This is just an awesome build, with great attention to detail! "thumbsup"

Thank you! I spent a lot of time on all the little things and I think a lot of them paid off.

Glad to finally see this rig in its natural environment. Awesome pics.

I couldn't agree more LOL. It was getting exhausting seeing it on the bench with "just this left to do" which seemed to take forever. It felt amazing to get out and put this thing to work - no shelf queen here!

That thing looks so real! I really want a pair of those drive shafts now to go with my new SSD axles.

Thanks, I am really impressed with these shafts as well. I was originally going to leave the Wild Boars on because they work great and are strong, but when I looked under the truck and see the laser engraved "Currie" on the axle and then look over at a completely un-scale Wild Boar shaft, I had to make a change!

Thanks man. I have tried to learn from others in terms of how to take shots to get the most realistic point of view on a truck. The biggest thing is taking the shot at a scale height, i.e. where the person taking the photo would have the camera. I used to take a bunch randomly and as soon as you start to go too high, the scale look disappears! It's pretty neat actually.

I don't do body work for others, I still feel like a rookie as this is only the second hard body I've built. It's extremely time consuming and so there's really no money in it. With a 2 year old at home, it's just something that I wouldn't be able to do. I'm fortunate enough to be able to do my own!

Thanks again guys. I really appreciate all the positive comments and feedback, and now I have to start on my CMAX body.....

As a fan of your work, and as a possible customer, this makes me sad. But I do understand, and will have to get up the courage to try this myself!

But how in the world did you manage this??!!

It's not difficult, honestly, it just takes a lot of time and tests your patience. I'd be happy to offer any advice if/when you do decide to give it a shot! Thanks for the kind words.

I'm not entirely sure LOL, it was really wedged in there. I guess it is a testament to the 1.55 Rock Beasts? I mean, they do say the Alien compound is quick sticky...

Amazing build. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for work?
Watching the build I sometimes got thinking it was a full size rig....
do you work on full size trucks? That trans and Transfer case are so realistic. It's hard to believe they make stuff like that, for such a limited demand???
Very,Very, nice

Thanks for the feedback! I work in transportation engineering by day, and in my spare time I work on a lot of 1:1 vehicles, ironically mostly street cars/trucks. My 4x4 world is strictly RC.

The transmission and transfer case setup is indeed quite awesome. The guys at GCM are diehards and are fortunate enough to have made a living out of what we all do for fun! Lots of respect for them.

I just ordered a clod body to mess around with and have been looking for K10 builds to get some inspiration. I came across this build and Bob tonight and have read through both of them.

I"m looking forward to getting started on mine but after reading your threads wish I'd bought the blazer body instead.

Really awesome builds!
