ECX Barrage upgrades

Anybody know what voltage the stock ESC puts out to the LED lights?
I assume you don't have a multi meter or you wouldn't ask. Ill check voltage later, but it's obviously less than the nimh provides. If you're planning to replace or add more you may as well look for LEDs that can handle 7.2v from a 2s because that's likely what most people will upgrade to eventually lol

64T spur
12T pinion
24T ring gear I believe 12T pinion.
I counted all the gears in the transmission, but the info didn't seem to save so I'll count them again soon.

Fwiw the sumo axles are very similar in dimensions and have the same 24T ring gear, however with a 13T pinion that doesn't swap between the ECX.

No, I have several. Im just lazy. :flipoff:

As it turns out, those little leads coming off the stock brick are putting out full pack voltage! So I made a double pigtail out of them to plug in to a proper Rx. I assume the extra lead is for a future light bar or something.

I really like the design of this chassis. This truck performs (mechanically) as good or better than a Trekker IMO.

As good or better than a Trekker? Glad to hear that opinion. Will the stock motor be okay on 2s?

Thanks,

Hitec 65MG fits perfectly, just installed mine. Works a lot better than the stock junker too. Where can I get pinions for this motor? Or buy a motor that is a lot slower than this one? I want to be able to crawl it easily :)

I am going to try this pinion. I expect it may take a little tinkering around the motor to set the mesh, but I think 8t will make much more torque.

Is 80 pitch the same as .3 Mod? These Barrage gears are .3 Mod pitch. Like Losi.

Also, be carefull of the 8tooth brass .3 Mod gears. They are very thin and snap under load easy. I stick with 9t at minimum for brass. If you can find nylon or acetyl 8t in .3 Mod, please let me know ;-)

Anyone found a solution for our non dampening too stiff springs yet? Just got mine in and noticed they are horrible lol. Also my god the dam torque twist. Turning right at full speed is futile.

You could dampen the stock ones with thick grease. Im going to try the Hot Bodies micro shocks. They have some slight friction dampening.

Even then the springs are way to stiff even if you dampened them. You cant get the full travel out of them :(

I cut 3 coils out of the rear shocks and 2 coils off the front and it sits a lot lower. Quite a bit more stable too. The front travel is limited by the drag link hitting the frame on the driver side. Been thinking about putting a little bend in it to clear the frame at full flex.

If you have torque twist turn down the dual rate on your steering. Mine didn't have any problems with twist right out of the box

Also the hot racing shocks are pretty horrible. It's known they are very stiff and don't perform well.

Can you tale the shock bodies apart? If so, put a small piece of open cell foam in there then fill the rest with the thickest axle grease you can find. basically your trying to make a constant friction inside. I dont know if these shocks can even be modded.

You could but that doesnt help with the fact that the springs are too strong. Im going to try to get them measured and find a way to figure out how strong they are so we can get something softer.
