WARNING: Tower is using Fedex Smartpost now

Ok. I was worried about Rek for a minute ;)

Im not sure if I get the reference lol. but yeah its an app / browser app that automatically tests for coupon codes on a variety of sites. Its pretty cool, its saved me money on amazon, ebay, and my wife got like 50% off on shoes on payless once. Pretty cool.

This is how awesome my delivery people are. Been raining all day here, package was tucked safely under the eave, and covered in plastic . "thumbsup"

I am so mad at Tower right now. Fedex claimed to have delivered it to the post office, but they hadnt. Fedex says they have 14 days to deliver it to them, and then the post office says 2-10 days for them to deliver it. This is definitely my last order with them.

I ordered from Horizon they discounted receivers if you bought 3 so I did. I purchased on Monday they shipped Monday night Fed Ex. Now UPS is 2 days for me, 1st Class Mail is 3-4 days and Priority 2-3, Fed Ex estimation to me is 8 days. Horizon/Tower may be saving on shipping costs but how many sales will it cost them?

They lost me as a customer and I used easy pay to buy trucks regularly. My shipment ordered last tuesday is just now in the post offices' hands, and they have 3 days estimated delivery.

Tower also changed the member coupon amounts plus the extra time to get anything. RPP and Amain end up be faster.

I haven't ordered from tower since 2012.

order from those mom and pop shops online. I ordered from rcp and got my mail via usps priority 3 days later.

there are good mom and pop shops out there but are slowly disappearing because of EBAY, TOWER... you know.. the bigger wigs.

keep ordering from the big wigs and soon.. soon.. they will be the only ones left leaving you with no choice.

Thats just the way the free market works. I get your sentiment, but really this big corporations tend to offer better support. All 3 hobby shops within an hour of me are total crap. They dont know what they are talking about, they sell you stuff you didnt need and isnt even decent for what youre going to do, and all of them dont do refunds under any circumstance. They rely on tricking you and screwing you with that item. With Ebay and Amazon any seller can just run their store there, and they get all the support those corporations have. I order stuff from RPP on there, and other small shops as well.

Just notice this last order. Five days to ship from IL to Ohio. I can get parts faster from Amain in CA.

Whats annoying is just last month I ordered stuff on a Monday and had it by Wednesday. Even the Tower phone support folks are disappointed and say its because of the buyout.

I received my package from Tower yesterday. Tracking number still doesn't show the package exists. Why even give one?

If you buy the wrong part, its your fault. Not the hobby shop. If you give thwm a part number and they bring you a different part number, why would you buy it?

Research before you buy.

The only way Tower will change this is if you contact them and tell them why you are no longer ordering from them and then stick to your word. If you just stop ordering it won't change anything.

Of all the big name stores, Tower used to be second fastest to deliver to my house only second to RPP. But RPP charges an exorbitant amount of money for shipping whereas Tower did not. It seems that management is hell bent on putting Tower out of business.

Just yesterday RPP lost a sale from me because it was $15 to ship 4 tires to my house. Shipping was roughly 20% of the cost of my order! That's bat shit crazy on something small and light such as tires. Their 10% coupon didn't even cover the cost of shipping. I found a better deal on eBay. Shipping was free and they are local so I will have the tires tomorrow or Saturday. This is an eBay store I've dealt with now for dozens of times. They are a "mom and pop" store and their customer service is as good as RPP, they ship the same day, I receive the order as fast if not faster than when I order from RPP and I don't have to pay a price premium.

$15 from CA to PA is pretty average for a small vendor. Plus, UPS and FedEx also up-charge to deliver to residential addresses. I'm also willing to bet that the "published" rate (retail) and the "negotiated" rate (cost) are identical in this case. When packages are under 2 pounds, those rates typically are the same.

Unless you are a powerhouse like Amazon, shipping is a big cost. Those that offer "free" shipping have that cost sunk somewhere else. Eating shipping with no offset is a good way to go broke.

I don't know the current cost of a Flat Rate "If it fits it shops" box, but they used to be cheaper than $15. Maybe RPP is also tacking profit on top of shipping.

The smaller eBay shops might be selling with slimmer profit margins which is easily possible especially when overhead is less.

And I don't know what happened to Amain, but their dreadfully slow shipping has done a complete 180 especially when I use eBay instead of their website. I ordered parts for my HPI Venture just after 3PM on Tuesday and I just got notification that they were delivered to my house this afternoon! That's with a shipping fee of a whole $2.99 for C-hubs and knuckle weights.

I did say that I called them didnt? Of course I let them know they wouldnt be getting any more business from me if this is how they intend to ship in the future, ESPECIALLY not even offering other methods.
