Orange County Scale Crawling Groups?

Wow, that got a lot of traction, eh?? LOL

Corona Del Mar rocks...
Evidently some recent group event the participants left a lot of trash around, so now the city is saying no group events there. You can still go run your trucks, just no club events anymore.

Where've you been! You've been tinkering with your 1:1 too much!

That’s too bad. I wasn’t able to make it. Dumb as peeps always ruin it for the rest of us huh?!! That sucks.
Your club should have cleaned up before you left.
Well it doesn’t matter anyway. This is a dead hobby now. Well at least the scale and trail side
I guess I’ll just finish building my run in the back yard. I’ve already got a rope bridge and a couple runs through the rocks and stuff in the planters. Heading to Johnson valley and maybe to Vasquez rocks this weekend.

Good luck.
I’m disappointed no clubs want to participate.

That, and we got ebikes, so riding every weekend. 8)
Before that my back was out for two months, could hardly walk. PT finally fixed it, so I'm good to go.
But yeah, I realized I haven't posted since October. Oh dear!!

Been down to CDM a few times. Saturdays we've been going to cars-and-coffee in San Clemente, then a bike ride. C&C SC is the largest weekly car show in the nation - some 400-600 cars show up and 3-4K people. It's incredible. Last week they had a whole section reserved for 'mopar day'.

If'n ya wanna meet up just let me know - Oscar likes to hit the place as well, but his GF is in Corona, so sometimes it's a trek.

The parking lot is a ghost town in winter - LOVE IT!!

Which event, which clubs??? Were you speaking specifically? Or just generally?

There are a number of upcoming events locally. And PLBF tickets go on sale 2-1 for May. One of the clubs is doing a 2-day event at Horseman's Center in AppleValley in March, and another always has a trailrun at KOH this month.

And no, the hobby/sport/activity is exploding. These tiny trucks are everywhere.

There are ALWAYS other crawlers at CDM rocks.

@browneyes - yeah I used to bring my son to hit up C&C every weekend when they were in Irvine and then Aliso Viejo. I haven't gone to the San Clemente location yet though. Is it just at the San Clemente outlets? The Lamborghini dealership in Costa Mesa also has a show the 1st Saturday of every month I believe (I also haven't been to this one in a while)

Yes, San Clemente outlet center off Avenida Vista Hermosa exit, turn right then left. Starts at 8:30.
Will likely hit it tomorrow.

Sometimes I'll throw a couple of crawlers in the trunk and hit CDM on the way back - can take the toll road. "thumbsup"

Got the car last July, it's been just fantastic. Funnest car I've ever owned, out of nearly fifty. The '76 Porsche 911 I had was pretty cool, but way old-tech in comparison. That V8 rumble is simply intoxicating. 8)

i would love to hit a C&C with my son! soze how old is your boy? Andrew is 11 and once we get his vette roadworthy (currently waiting on a replacement holley mech fuel pump and caliper rebuild) we intend on hitting some casual meets. OC might be too far for the old gal but that's where my dad used to show it at the garden grove (orange?) main street shows on Fridays.

so back to the topic at hand, san clemente at Hermosa would be cool... all those neat rocks and there is a state park very near if memory serves... i went camping in san onofre not long ago and looks like some nice terrain.
maybe i can make it someday.

and speaking of apple valley... AHEM COUGH COUGH

ASCENDERS ASSEMBLE!!!!!!!!!!

Interested to check out CDM. Anybody crawling this weekend? Me and my sons might go check it out. Will be bringing Bomber, TRX-4 and Capra

Just posted this in the 562 thread, but it looks like we have some regulars here... Oh, and I've seen some of your build threads and videos. Be cool to check out some Capras in person and get my daughter more interested in it. I'm more interested in crawlers than scalers, but it would be cool to see what is being used in the area and build up a network.

I'm in Long Beach and looking to get out. I just got my Losi Mini out of storage to reestablish my rc interest to the wife so I can get a Capra. The Marine Stadium near the shore is surrounded with rocks to break up waves. It's like an infinite rock field, but a little too big for the mini. Does this look good for 1/10th?

LB Marine Stadium

Are people out at CDM or is it closed/frowned upon to be out there. The area around Marine Stadium is packed with joggers and bikers, all keeping their distance, but getting outside.

I was wondering about cdm also. I’m heading over to el Modena tomorrow before the heat kicks up. Maine stadium Is too much for a mini

Can you give me some info about el Modena? Some links to pics and a location or something? I've been pretty happy with the mini at the stadium. It's tough, but it's not impossible. Besides, it's just across the park from me and I'm trying to prove to my wife that I'm serious enough about crawling to spent a big chunk of money on a Capra ;-). Have you tried it out? I've never seen anyone else there. Any idea how a Capra/SCX10 would do?

I just walk up to a random section of rocks and look for a line that looks maybe impossible/challenging and go for it. There's probably a few thousand feet of shoreline lined with rocks. I haven't spent much time on the northeast side, more up by the park where the pin is dropped on my map. I'd be happy to come hang out almost any time, but I haven't driven a 10th scale crawler so I can't tell you if it's any good. I'd like to find out, though. I'll take some pics with my mini next time we head out.

I was curious if there was something new over there. I've grown up wakeboarding/skiing in there so I'm very familiar with the area.

Hello,
New to the hobby. Got me a Gen8 super happy with it.
I usually go to Irvine Regional Park by the rocks and mess around with the rc.
Any other places that come to mind?

Thanks.

A few of us locals usually hit up El Modena Open Space and CDM on the weekend mornings.

I was not aware there was something to crawl at Irvine Regional Park.

Mind sharing where those rocks are?
