I don’t have the know he w to answer that one, but I am curious why you would want to do it given that the switch is also directly used for radio calibration. Definitely not trying to kick you in the stinger, I’m just genuinely curious.

There is a way I saw somebody do it a while back and I don't use the power button to calibrate anything I program the esc and that's it so tell more on that?

I think I saw exocaged rc do it but anyway somebody on here well experienced with these will know :)

Thanks & stinger intact...

Yeah I'd be worried about losing the button to program.

Though I wonder if you could cut it off and use some 4 wire plugs on the ends to reconnect and program then make another plug with a jumper for the on off switch (so it comes on when a battery is plugged in). Then you'd just leave the jumper plugged in most of the time and swap the switch in to program. I'm just spitballing.

EDIT: I just realized I dont know what wires to jump for the switch, that would be important.

it makes sense its viable I just thought I saw someone cut the cables to the power switch leaving about an inch and then tying them together and taping them up but my recollection is foggy and it could have been mamba x I was seeing.

any other esc out there that is simple yet reliable like this one?? I have mamba x micro x but I love the more analog brushed systems an I also holmes br-xl esc 3total love them but want easy access to change simple parameters.

Definitely calibrate the full throttle, neutral, and full reverse positions of your radio. You may be leaving lots of motor on the table, I know I sure was.

You may be thinking of the castle switch, being momentary instead of a mechanical switch, I’m not sure you can remove the 1080 on/off button.

If you can, then I’m all ears, because it bugs the hell out of me.

Can you just leave the power button on all the time, or is it when you unplug the battery the button is off again?

you have to press it every time you plug in!

But previous crawler was right no way to calibrate the transmitter to esc without the program button that is on the power button box... And im surprised i never calibrated it and wondering now how much power i was missing! Will find out tonght when i get into the rig.... Buzzz...

.

Could have been my TRX4 thread. I did that when my Mamba X failed while I was on the trail. I believe I posted about it in there. Castle switches are notoriously crappy and prone to failure. Can’t say I have ever had a switch fail on a 1080

Castle switches are also a simple on/off switch, the 1080 switch is a little more complex. I suspect (but don't know) that you could likely just bypass the switch part by connecting the power & ground wires, however as mentioned previously in the thread you'll still need power to the other momentary calibration switch.

If you're 100% into it, I would take the switch apart and check the output in it's various states (on/off/on with calibration pressed/off with calibration pressed etc.) and that might let you know what is and isn't possible.

IMO - the best course of action is to put it somewhere you can access it fairly easily and live with it lol

i do have it in a great spot easy to press and out of the way i just thught i would check here and see if there was a hack but i can live with it! If it wasnt such a grea esc things would bee diffrent! Buzzz everybody!

Indeed it is, as Humboldt mentioned above, it is also a programming button.

Edit: you might look into some Holmes videos. John likes to remove all of his switches. He might have addressed the 1080 switch
