1/10 Utility Trailer

Unfortunately progress on this camper will be slow for the next couple of months as I have two daughters playing soccer. So, I'll have to figure out how to squeeze in some me time between that and getting up at 330 am to get to work.

However, I won't let this build die."thumbsup"

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Under what conditions? The wood is birch and the outer siding is styrene. It's all held together with Insta-Cure+. Its structural integrity is very strong. I hope that helps answer your question.

I got the lights wired up and put on a switch. Next is the siding and windows.

I'll make an access door under the cabover and next to the small cab window. It will be secured and hidden under the stove.

Can you explain how you made the trailer axle/what parts you used? I don't have an LHS that stocks this type of stuff so I'll have to buy online but I just haven't figured out what to get....everything else I'm gonna fab by hand but the axle/springs are what's stopping me from getting started!

Oh..you could also hide the battery in a propane tank or tongue mounted toolchest :)

I had the same problem figuring out what I was going to do for an axle as well. Over the course of a weekend make one out of extra parts. The axle is actually two solid aluminum links joined by a long set screw. Then with two more of the same length set screws on either side of the axle to secure the wheels. I cut up an old screw driver that had a square stock shaft and took it to the grinder to make the perches. The leaf spring clamp assemblies are left over OG Bruiser parts I had lying around. The leaf springs themselves are RC4WD Soft Red springs. Finally the shocks are 100mm RC4WD Ultimate Scale shocks. BTW - I am running 1.55 wheels. I hope this helps give you some ideas.

Thanks for the idea for the battery. However, I want to keep the camper fully self contained. That way all I have to is loosen the turn-buckles, not shown in any pictures yet, and remove the camper from the trailer. No wires to worry about. I will most definitely be putting a propane tank and other goodies on the tongue end of the trailer."thumbsup"

Quit teasing us and put some siding on this dang thing already!!!!!!:lmao:

Very nice camper build, it's right there w/ microgoats' camper. I've seen clapboard siding in the Plastruct line that would be a dead ringer for the external sheeting used on a 1:1 camper.

What did you use for a sink, and lastly- are you gonna detail out the bathroom?

"thumbsup"

Thanks BigSki. Does MicroGoat have a build thread for his? All I could find was one picture. I considered clapboard siding for the retro look, but my interior is too modern. So I went with the smooth siding like today's campers. I use a 1/12 scale doll house sink and stove top. It close enough to 1/10 scale dimensions and they were exactly what I was looking for. And finally, nope. I decided to go head-less for this camper. I couldn't find a porta-potty and really didn't want to make one from scratch. So in the place where the head would go I put the rounded shelf instead. Should make a great spot for an LCD TV. "thumbsup"

This is by far one of my favorite projects, keep it up!

Thank you Maddog!

All I can come up with is "WOW!" Great work!

Thanks cblake187!
