Took it out at lunch today to do some testing. I didn't bring the camera with the video... I probably won't take any video until I get the trans sorted out. No one enjoys hearing that noise.

Took it to the rocks to see how it would do. The transmission complained quite a bit but other than that it had plenty of power with the current gearing and the suspension seems pretty stable. Center of gravity was a lot better than I thought. I'm not running any foams at all in the tires. Sometimes it's ok and other times it's not, mainly when there is a heavy load on one tire. I think I'm going to have to modify the stock foams and put them back in. Anyone know of 3.2" beadlock wheels with 17mm hexes? Full offset preferred. There weren't to many places it wouldn't go. No real challenging climbs.

Then it was over to the baseball field for some low traction high speed testing! They didn't mind me running for a few minutes.

You can definitely see the need for foams when running wide open.

Took it out again today and had a blast with it.

Didn't get to much video. It was a new place to run with some massive hills and TONS of mud. I actually got MYSELF stuck in the mud haha

Then towards the end I was racing up a hill against a slash and drifted over to the left and caught a down tree head on.....

Did some damage.Looks like it snapped the housing right off and managed to snap the axle too.

I bet it was the lambo door that added to much downforce on the left and pulled into the tree.. :shock: should add some tube doors or half doors anything just not lambo doors.. :mrgreen:

It looks like you broke the output spider gear on the diff, I know XTM doesn't have the greatest stuff. You should try to see if some oher 1/8 th scale buggy diffs with stronger internals will fit.

I was actually talking to Nick about wanting to put tube doors on it. The hinge on the lambo doors has already been broke so if I ran into something or jumped it they would go flying off

You're exactly right. There is a coupler that holds the axle to the output on the diff and it snapped that output off. I'm going to have to figure something out because the ring and pinions aren't really holding up either. I don't know why not since the x-factor was a pretty big and heavy truck too? After I rebuilt the rear ring and pinion and it sounded pretty good and didn't slip to much, only after being really beat on. I think a lot of it has to do with how the center section goes together. Seems like there is a lot things that can flex and tweak under a hard load. That center housing that holds the ring gear is a two piece design then each axle half bolts through that and connects to each other so it's just sandwiched in there.

Electronics stayed nice and dry. I think I'm going to line the top of the rear fenders with a foam weather stripping so that when the cover is down it seals up better.

Looks like the culprit was the idler gear in the maxx tranny

I mentioned earlier in the thread about putting some sway bars on it. I want to make them quick disconnect too. I'll get around to it sometime. I have it all torn down now to get that trans fixed. I'm going to try and get the lights working on the body while I have it off.

I thought I had a spare idler from Rc-monster but can't find it. They're out of stock too. I remember seeing some steel idlers somewhere else. I'll have to track them down.

Yeh I seen them on their site but I can't bring myself to spend $10 to ship it...... I'll most likely have to do it though.

Oh yeah, I managed to have him ship via USPS first class to Singapore but I had to pay additional $18 to do Western Union, as he won't do Paypal. It's been over 2 weeks, still haven't got em Anyway it will come. He does not respond quite quick ... so I was able to get over at ebay a complete tranny with full steel transmission gears, robinson slipper with steel spur and some pinions. Also on the way, really hope they don't get lost.
