Judging by the pic of the real Samurai with 30" tires, those are too small. They should fill the wheel wells a lot more-- right now it looks more like a Mule. Good work otherwise though.

Numbers don't lie, scaled off the 1:1. One thing that throughs you off is being able to see through the body/chassis.

The only real difference I see are the leafs. The scale sami has arched springs. The other one has flat springs. Other than that yay it'ss dead on.

Was wondering what you used for a heating element? The reason I ask is I am in the process of building a table also but don't know what to use for heating the lexan.

those tires look a little on the dinky side, going through my tires i happen to have some maximizers with k-rocks sitting right here beside me and looking at them, looking at your sami, looking at them looking at your sami, you might have to lift it a little but they would probably look pretty awesome on it. like a 1:1 lifted sami with bfg krawlers. either way great job, i love the one off body jobbers

I am using a pair of 8,000 BTU propane burners, I had them in the garage.

As far as the body, I also don't have the fender flairs on in the pics.

K-Rocks would be WAY to big, like putting 44's Boggers on a Radio Flyer:lol:

yeah, thats just rediculous for a radio flyer, 33's ok, but 44's?!? lol, i remember a couple of pics way back in the day in 4wheeler people building these red wagons with swampers to pull the kids around at the jamborees! yeah i see your point, if those are stampede wheels the k-rocks would be a little on the way to big side. oh well, thought i mighta had them sold....after hearing they suck fro crawling.......

16,000 btu's?!?! whew, awhile back i was looking on the net to build my own vac table and the most basic one i found was some peg board, a shop vac and a couple of heat lamps! is it going to be .250 lexan?!?!:shock:

The burners are ajustable, from 4,000 up to 16,000 BTU's. With this setup I will be able to soften up to .200 material. The .060 I am using for the bodies will be cake.

And ya, I way over build things, kind of a curse:roll:

hmmm, .200 you say? i bought some red plexi to make some brake light lenses, if i sent you a mold and the plexi could you form them? the plexi is .125

cool, i'll watch the thread, let us now how it goes. the only method i have is in the oven or maybe a hairdryer, either way dosnt sound very controlled, acurate or precision to me.

Ive done alot of vacuum forming (building hottubs), heat control isnt very hard, start cool and work your way up, you may want to set up some kind of diffuser to even out the heat and to keep from burnin the lexan the first few times. you may wan tto build in a controlable vent on top too, and look into a BBQ temp guage.

Time the first few to get a good idea of what works best. we always coated the mold with baby power too to help the air from getting trappped. make sure the Vac is on before you put the lexan on the mold. cant tell you how many times i forgot that when forming the hot tubs, ooops.
