I can't think of a reason to not add it to your Fleet, so go ahead, you have my permission to add it to your Fleet.

Its currently sitting in the cart waiting for the send it button to be clicked
yes or no yes or no or yes or no send it or finish the current projects send it or no dont. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Lol nice self control. You'll be happy.

Two things that are recommended a better servo and the aluminum lockers.

Check out my barrage upgrade bible for other things that can be done.

Have a hitech 645 for it all ready. Good enough for a "why did i do this rig".:lmao:
Are the stock lockers plastic?? and i am being lazy who makes the better lockers?

I'm a noob to this whole crawler thing, but I picked up one of the $100 Doomsday's (because how can you pass up that price?). If anybody plans on getting one, make sure you flip the front bumper brackets first thing, as it gets hung up on everything out of the box because it's too low. The whole body seems a bit flimsy and cheap, but it'll probably be fine while I'm learning. It surprised me at how capable it is. I took it to some pretty extreme rocks, in my opinion, and it did really well. I thought the tires were going to be much slicker than they are, but they really didn't cause any issues for it.

That brings me to a question I had: You don't see any crawlers or trail trucks with these "monster truck" style tires on them, and I'm wondering why that is. I haven't found a surface they do poorly on so far, though maybe other styles do better and I just don't have anything to compare them to? What benefits do the more realistic looking off-road style tires that everyone uses bring?

Here are some pics of various 1.9” tires. Compared against the new trx4 sport and gen 2 1.5” barrage.

Man. I used the 3d print rear bumper mount. No idea why I didn’t do the front as well. I put all my shocks at the top holes. Did the battery tray 3d sideways print. Night and day on the top heavy stock feeling. Front locker is blown. Trying to decide if I am gonna replace it with metal locker or scx10 axle it. It ran great. I am gonna get a doomsday to build for sure for fj40 scaler.

Blew up my front locker after replacing stock tires to similar to yours. Replaced with RedCat metal lockers. Still have original servo on my gen1 and running great.

So I'm guessing I stripped some stuff out, but I'm not sure what. My front right, and rear left wheels now slip with the slightest bit of resistance on them. What parts should I be checking to figure out what's going on?

Edit: So I took apart the rear axle to check it out, and figured it out. The plastic part where the axle (I guess?) goes into the spool. I would guess that means the front is the same.

Yup. This is one of the weak links for sure. I am still debating what to do. I just got aluminum lockouts for the rear. I think overall this axle is sturdy. I am not impressed with Phillips screws used everywhere but those will all get changed out.

We just got the cross rc crawler kits in. They have nice axle housings.

One thing with switching to scx10 axle setups is gearing. I wonder what the gear ratio will be like?
If anyone that has done the swap to those could chime in that would be awesome.

Either buy stock plastic spools to fix it with a bandaid or find the aluminum spools that are out there. 680010 is the part number. They are getting hard to find for a decent price cause they fit some many different rigs.

Yup, I ordered some of the Redcats since I figured if the originals only lasted like three days, I'd be throwing away money ordering more that will die too.

When I switch them out, should I put some grease in there or anything? Seeing as there isn't any stock I wasn't sure if it was necessary, but I feel like it wouldn't hurt anything.

Yes always add grease or fluid if it is sealed.
I can get the spools. Just debating staying stock still. Good to know ratio is the same.
