1.9 Barrage RTR 1/10 Crawler

A Google search turns up some evidence that the Everest/Temper was/is prone to the same failure.

Side note -- here's a guy who used glue to fix (maybe) as we've been discussing.

Similar rig, same problem.

That's the 1/10th scale Redcat I believe our counterpart is the 1/16 but still, same issue I agree.

That's a 10th scale everest the locker is completely different.

But as mentioned jb weld might work.

These guys are lucky, the AL locker for that is dime a dozen on ebay. I have a spare plastic one from Redcat that I will be applying some JB weld or plastic welder. I just have not stripped out the stock ones yet!!!

I just got hot racing spools and axial gears in mine.

i dont see the scx axles? I am seeing gen 1 barrage axles under the bronco. Am i missing something?

That was a post to show the size different.

My build thread is the link in my Sig.
I'm running redcat Everest 10 axles which are clone axles.
This was taken yesterday after my new front bumper showed up.

ok, so you arent running the scx axles? I cannot make up my mind on either beefing up stock axles or getting something new. My newest idea is rc4wd trex axles. The next thing i want to do is shock hoops. The little plastic balls the shocks mount to are not confidence inspiring. Overall i feel like i am reinventing the wheel with this truck . However i love it.

Back in 2016 when I got my rgt I wasn't running e10/scx10 axle since 2017 I've swapped the e10/scx10 axles. It's a pretty easy swap if you choose that route.

So swapped out the stock servo after the first three minutes. For a 645 I had in the parts draw. I did not think the 645 would be enough but it works well inthis lil rig. So far the lil rig has 5 minutes of run time and an hour of benching and wrenching. The foams in my 1.55 baby beast are way to stifff for this rig so CI foams have been ordered. To be continued...................

I opened up the axles last night looking for the source of play (spool) and the plan was to jb weld it if it has ovalized. To my surprise the plastic spools are mint and even when I shined a flashlight in the hole it looks good all the way through. Im sure the slop gets worse to a point but also if prevented might not develop into a stripped spool at all.

Yeah mine is hard to see as well. But enough of a bind and it slips. So just like on a real truck it’s gonna be a welded spool.

I opened mine up to try to glue the axle in and keep it from slipping, but when I went to put the wheels back on, screwing the nut on caused the other (previously good) side to strip out.

What a joke.

Did you hold the wheel while tightening it? I can see it stripping out if the opposite wheel was set on the ground and a torque was applied through the axle.

Holding the wheel to be tightened puts the torque stress on the wheel hex and pin.

I forgot to say I'm sure you know this already and is absolutely due to weak material.

I wonder if a diff from a mrc will fit in the housing.

Would have to use the ring gear and plastic diff case but that can house a steel locker which was a great upgrade for those. Just don't know the dimension of it or if it would fit. Pure speculation and wonderment.
